Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

I love her. Her music brings back fond memories of carefree childhood days for me. I saw her in concert in 2010.

Such a vast repertoire of hits. My favourite is Deja Vu.

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

Underrated performance by her on some French TV Show with a French Guitarist she was supposedly dating at the time. One of my favorite black female singers.

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

Yes, I love Ms. Warwick and listen to her regularly.

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

I forgot about this one she did with Luther Vandross....I bought it when it first came out on 12" but don't think it got too much airplay...I liked their harmony....kinda sad song...

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

She supposedly raise money for AIDS research and it came out she spent most of the money on herself

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

Huge fan here. I probably have all her records. She is a class act. She is amazing in concert and I have seen her several times.

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

From the Wikipedia article on Dionne Warwick

"In 1993, Forrest Sawyer, host of the ABC News/Entertainment program Day One, alleged financial improprieties by the Warwick Foundation, founded in 1989 to benefit AIDS patients, and particularly Warwick's charity concert performances organized to benefit the organization. ABC alleged the Foundation was operating at a near 90% administrative cost. ABC alleged that Warwick flew first class and was accommodated at first-class hotels for charity concerts and events in which she participated for the Foundation. Warwick, who had no executive, administrative, or management role in the organization, challenged ABC to investigate the foundation further and alleged that the ABC report was racially motivated. An Internal Revenue Service investigation of the Warwick Foundation found no wrongdoing or criminal activity on the part of the Board of Directors or Warwick, and its status as a non-profit charity was upheld. ABC maintained the report to be factually correct, but the item has not been repeated since the original air date. The foundation was later dissolved."

Re: Any Dionne Warwick fans?

I've always loved her music. Many of her songs are by composer Burt Bacharach and I would consider Ms. Warwick part of "The Great American Songbook." :=D:

Promises, Promises - (from the show of the same name)

For the last few days we have been listening to two of her songs because we just love them and feel they so amazing. "Feeling Old Feelings" from the album Dionne which was produced by Barry Manillow; and "Run To Me" a duet with Barry written by the Bee Gees and I think also produced by Barry Manillow.

I love all the Songs she has sung, that is why it is too difficult to pick a favorite. It is a shame her voice is not the same from many years of cigarette smoking.

I have never seen her in Concert live. I wish I had. I have seen her on TV in concert though!

Her only No. 1 song was "Then Came You". with the Spinners.
