I'm not sure how many people here are fans of Swedish electro duo The Knife, but basically, however many there are, there should be more :) They're brilliant.

Anyway, Karin from The Knife has released a solo album under the name Fever Ray, and it's brilliant! I've been listening to it non-stop lately. My favourite song has to be When I Grow Up, it's got some awesome beats, and a wonderfully weird video.

There's also the very creepy first single If I Had a Heart

And just because, here is some of The Knife

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

That was very interesting. I think I like "The Knife" better than I like "Fever Ray". Thank you for sharing this. I am always looking for new music to put on the 'pod. :)
You may have just made my week-end.

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

ooh good to hear :D

The Knife is a lot more dance-y (due in part to the influence of Karin's brother Olof, the other member), but Fever Ray's lyrics are a lot more personal - she wrote the album when she had insomnia due to post-partem depression.

The Knife have also composed the music and libretto for an opera based on the works of Charles Darwin, which will be premiering in September 2009 in Copenhagen - hopefully I'll be going! So excited!

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

I'm waiting on this to come in at the library.

I love "Silent Shout." I think it one of the best, most original albums I've heard in a long time.

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

Have you tried Spotify? You should be able to listen to it for free using that.

Another video - Pass This On

Karin is the one staring creepily at the end, and Olof (her brother) is the first guy to get up and start dancing.

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

Yeah, The Knife are a neat band..
Kewl videos, too! ..|

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

I've been a fan of all of Karin's work so far, but Silent Shout kind of stands above the rest for me - when it came out, there really wasn't anything else like it out there.

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

Silent Shout has to be one of the best dance tracks ever... works at every party. I saw the Knife live on a festival here a couple of years ago. Complete nuthouse although 90% of their music came out of a sequencer. The visuals were insane, 3D projections of a head singing along to the lyrics, it's the same show that was released as the live dvd I think. There's a lot of that stuff on youtube.

That Fever Ray record is amazing as well, aparently their live show is pretty intense as well, they played a festival here but I didn't want to pay €40 just for Fever Ray because pretty much all the other bands were crap...

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

Fever Ray set to release her album's fourth single, "Seven", on 12" and digital formats on October 5 in the UK on Rabid/Cooperative. It'll be backed by remixes from "Day 'N' Nite" , Crookers, CSS, Marcel Dettmann, Martyn, Nic Chacona, Real Daniel, and Seth Troxler.

Fever Ray-- The Double Disc Edition hits October 12 with two covers-- Vashti Bunyan's "Been Here Before" and Nick Cave and Anita Lane's "Stranger Than Kindness"-- and a DVD featuring all of the album's superb videos thus far along with a new one for "Seven" directed by Johan Renck.

Re: Fever Ray/The Knife

Wonder how Kanye would react if any of her videos won a VMA?
