Final Fantasy XIII NOT! PS3 Exclusive...

Um. You didn't read it correctly:

""In fact, the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII project isn't just limited to three titles - there are many different aspects. In terms of the formats we're reaching, as well, it's not simply exclusive to the PS3 and mobile phones."

Final Fantasy XIII is exclusive to the PS3 however the Final Fantasy XIII project (also known as Fablus Crystalis Nova) is a compliation of SEVERAL FFXIII-themed games. In other words, Square-Enix is gonna milk the FF brandname for everything it's worth.

Toriyama says that other games in the Fabula Nova Crystallis project, which is based around FF13, might go for other platforms.

FFXIII and Final Fantasy Versus is confirmed to be exclusive to the PS3.

Final Fantasy XIII Arigto is coming to the cell mobile (presumbably using Asian phones since Western phones are pale shadows compared to them...)

Good news for Wii owners, Final Fantasy Haeresis (part of the Fabula Nova Crystalis compliation):

"In the last interview with the japanese magazine Gemaga, Square enix confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII Fabula Nova Chrystalis game "FF Haeresis XIII" is currently in the workings for the new Nintendo plattaform."

Here is the image of it's title:

Xbox 360 is rumored to be getting the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIII game.

Square's spreading their franchise across all systems. And they're gonna be filthy stinking rich when they're in stores...

To be honest, I'm skeptical. After the disaster called Final Fantasy X-2 and the following disaster (by Square terms anyway), I'm a little worried about a dip in quality. It's good that they're spreading the FF-love, but I'm worried that they may go the way of E.A. and start producing crappy games just to make a profit. Only time will tell. Square rarely makes bad games.

And MGS4 is exclusive to PS3. It's been old news. Kojima basically shot down the rumors a month ago in an interview with Kotaru:

http://kotaku.com/gaming/go307/feature-talkin-metal-gear-with-hideo-kojima-248695.php

A quote from him that angered many fanboys alike:

""But like I said, MGS4 is aimed for the movie theatre, it's aimed for the PS3, so the game's scenario and graphics need this theatre-type hardware. It's when a producer has a game that can work on the 'DVD level' that a game will go multiplatform", he says. Sorry kids. Your "OMGMGS4360" banners will have to come out another day.

Since we've opened up this can of worms, I may as well get his thoughts on it. Why, I ask, do you think this rumour simply refuses to go away? "Because 360 owners want it on 360, obviously", he quips."

That's it for now.

I'm not worried about them wanting to 'milk' the franchise for all it's worth, not so much as I hope that the resulting products will be inferior enough to tarnish a viable cash coy that Square and their parent companies have created for so many years.

One Final Fantasy XIII game is STILL exclusive. 1.

Kojima may have shot down the rumours but still, Mikami shot down the same rumours for Resident Evil 4.

It's not about what the producer wants anymore, it's about what the company wants. It's all about money.

Well, nice to see the information spread.

No, TWO FFXIII games are exclusive. The official one and the Versus XIII game with the yet another FF7 AC: Clone.

Kojima shot down the rumors...as well Konami. He made the same claim with several other gaming sites. Xbox 360 may see a port a year after the original one comes out though. It happened with the Xbox. However it sold atrociously. That's why Konami and Kojima are reluctant to do it again with MGS4.

The best Xbox360 owners can hope for is year-later port. Which may not happen due to the last MGS4. Also it has to do with the market. MGS4's market is primarily Japan. Second place is Europe and the rest of the East. USA is somewhat above Austrailia and Latin America. The manga/anime/mech theme is targeted with Japanese consumers as they buy most of the franchise. Unfortunately, the Xbox 360 has not sold even a million consoles (it's getting closer) as of today in Japan. As you said, it's all about money. Costs are included.

MGS4, as stated by Kojima, will use the dual-layer Blu-Ray disc rather than the single layer because the single layer simply wasn't enough. And that's 25 gigabytes. Kojima states that MGS4 will likely use about 40 GBs of information.

Even compressed with the most advanced compression techniques, it will take about 5-6 DVD9s to store the game. It's cost-basis marginal analysis. Since Kojima is making such a grand game, it would be more costly to compress and cut information out of a game to make it fit onto a DVD or several DVDs to sell it on a system that has not proven to garner towards the Japanese audience. Thus, economically, it would be wiser to sell it on the PS3 alone. It's all about money...but it's really about saving money and maximizing profit.

A port can be hoped for at least. Sony's obviously copying the same damn tactic they did in PS2. Nearly word per word. PS2 sales spiked tremendously after the release fo MGS2 and then Sony suddenly began to release a slew of AAA titles. Which again, Sony seems to be doing this generation anyway. MGS4 will sell alot of PS3s in Japan and eventually across the world. Hopefully E3 will have better footage this time.

Well, Kingdom Hearts II sucked. Final Fantasy XII was a good game but it had a sucky story and the gameplay was entirely based on FFXI which shows that they didn't really think of anything new except the crappy License system....

They've had a steady decline in quality, IMO. They're still in the top-tier of third person companies, but they're not as good as they used to be.

^Remember he "retired" from the series.
So like Mikami, this is his swan song. I really truely can see a port happening. I don't care if Kojima says it can't happen, because it's what did he say? 50 gigs of raw data and the 360 can't handle it... it all sounds like a load of balogna to me. Considering it would take YEARS upon years to build a game with that much info, there's no way we would see a 07' release. So unless they've been working on that game since 1999, it's highly unlikely that some of the claims of this game and it's building process are true.

All he needs to do is threaten to chop of his head.

It's not a matter of hearsey. It's fact. If Kojima states (and he has never lied in the past about his accomplishments) says the game is 50 GB in data, it simply won't fit on a single DVD9. It's science. It CAN fit about 5-6 discs if you use the very best compression. It could definitely fit 3-4 discs if Kojima takes out the 7.1 audio (since it takes up alot of space) and texturing. However, the WHOLE game on ONE DVD? It's just simply not within our technology to do so.

And you're wrong about the length of time. That's just completely false. Space has nothing to do with time. You're assuming that the game will be 90 hours long and such. Kojima is simply using technological components (he stresses something called the Octo-Cam) that requires alot of storage information. It's far more complex than you think...

And Kojima owns too much of the shareholder stock. They "chop" him off..and they liquidate a good portion of their shares along with it. The reason he's the voice of the company is simply because he possesses a large amount of prinicipal/priority stock and possesses a large dividend to boot.

I mean, it's nice to hope and stuff. But be realistic about it. You're not making sense. There's nearly a 100% chance it will stay on PS3.

Also Sony possesses a portion of Konami stock. Be smart about this: as a firm why would let the most profitable game on your console become multi-platform? They won't. They enacted a slew of contracts and licences to the game.

Capcom made the wise choice to go multi-platform since they're not doing well. They lost a rather large portion of their firm ( a buy-out) and they simply can afford to produce at a higher level of production.

Kojima says a lot of things, there's no denying that. Space has everything to do with time. If what he claims is true chances of an '07 release are about as high as RE4's what...did they claim for that? 2002?
It's not false at all. The amount of time and work itself to make a game that large would take years (games that take are about 2 gigs take some time to make as it already is) Personally I take anything that comes out of, Mikami's mouth, Kojima's, Suda 51's, Kataguri's, Microsoft's lackies and Miyamoto's with a grain of salt these days as they're so full of it, it's not even funny.

I'll believe it when I see it.

(plus if MGS4 is anything like it's predacessors it will be about 7 hours of gameplay and 17 hours of cutscenes.)

Space has nothing to do with time...

To make it simple for you: Some things take up more space than other things. Look at your computer. Some programs take up more disc space and use more RAM than other programs. It has nothing to do with how long it is....

You're making assumptions that Kojima will go the way of RE4. You're not thinking it through. The reason RE4 went multi-platform (and STILL multi-platform with the Wii) is because Capcom is doing very poorly. Simple fact. They nearly closed in on bankruptcy on three different occasions the past two years. They couldn't afford to stay exclusive. Especially since the Gamecube was dead in the water. Second, their contract was up. And Nintendo didn't renew it. Wonder why, Resident Evil was primarily on Gamecube for the first few years? Simple. Contracts explictly stating exclusivity. By the time RE4 was done and over with, the contract had reached it's expiration date. That in conjunction with their downward sloping corporation that had lost several mergers, had forced Capcom to release it on the PS2.

Konami has no reason to do anything as such. They already know that MGS4 will make an enormous profit. They know that releasing it on the Xbox360 will actually cost more than it earns. Also you have to factor in subisidies and taxes. A Japanese gaming firm (or most electronic-oriented firms) make a significant subsidy (opposite of tax; government pays them a certain percentage of a cost) to do business within their shores with other Japanese electronic firms. This isolationist policy has not slagged over the last few decades. Also you have to factor in taxes. Japan taxes foreign (or in this case American) electronic firms to do business in Japan with other firms or in the market. These conditions is why Japan is so dominate in electronics. This is also partially the reason Microsoft lost more than 9 billion dollars in cost revenue. Taxes and tariffs were a large part of it. It's simply not economically efficent for Konami to do the same. Which is why Microsoft is aiming to either establish American-tied Japan-based corporations or to focus on Western gaming firms.

Also, you're rather hypocritical about refusing to accept that MGS4 is exclusive. You're had no problem touting FFXIII' supposed non-exclusivity (until I proved you horribly wrong) using a questionable source...but a reliable source from the word of an even more reliable producer is not enough?

Okay, but it's most likely not going to happen simply because of Microsoft's low install base in Japan. If it were higher, sure. A port is possible. But only if Xbox360 proves to Konami that they won't have a repeat with MGS2. They lost nearly 20 million dollars with that blunder.
