I can't remember if I ever really tried hard before, but this morning something possessed me (or, maybe, got bettered by a part of my own nature) I entered "catastrophe film cathedral crumbling" and voilà:

A memory roaming inside my own private universe for over forty years, one of the very few films I ever went to a film theatre to suffer, now has received a name and a rather full ID

Any revelation of the sort you could share with us

Ah! Sunday morning.

Finding the lyrics to "Surfin' Bird".

It's not Sunday morning but I just found out one of my favorite films, which has been lost for decades, is getting a supposedly acceptable bootleg release. Based on the novel by Evan Hunter, "Last Summer" stars Barbara Hershey, Richard Thomas, Cathy Burns and Bruce Davidson as four teens spending the summer on Fire Island. Their boredom and raging hormones lead to games of sex and eventually, cruelty.

The studio that released it in 1969 has long since folded and nobody seems to know where the original negative is, whether it's been destroyed or is being hoarded by some wealthy asshole, but this bootleg is supposed to be from a very clean print. I've seen frame grabs and they look better than both the late night TV broadcasts and the scratchy old Key Video VHS release from the 80's.

I haven't seen this film in close to thirty years. I just ordered a copy. It should be here in 7-10 days and I can't fucking wait.
