The official release date is tomorrow, but the final version 4 is already available on some FTPs and websites.

Ah good old Firefox, although the v3's have been largely uninteresting, 4 is the way forward... I've been using the beta since it first came out and it's got better bookmark/password saving than Chrome (and more secure), you can properly bloc ad's and you have a tonne more interesting add ons :)

The 15MB of the new version take ages to download and this is awesome.

I FEEL LIKE THE CHOSEN ONE.

This is wonderful! I am completely confused.

WHERE IS EVERYTHING?

It does seem a good deal faster opening pages. Don't know if I'm really crazy about the general layout yet.

wait .. what  paws is happy with something *new*?

You can't imagine how much I anticipated version 4 after that disaster of 3.x. It's like, "do you want a cookie?" - "Fuck yeah!"

I cannot stand Chrome. the layout is needlessly annoying.
They stole many of the design ideas from Chrome for Firefox 4

I just installed Firefox 4 - loving everything except that pop-ups appear on top - which is annoying me. With Firefox 3, the pop ups appeared behind the main window - anyone know how I can set that up?

I am using Firefox 4 on Mac OS X. Thanks.

^^^ As far as I know, it's up to the website whether popups appear over or behind the window, behind so it's easier to keep web bugs phoning home because you don't know the popups are there.

It's easy to turn popups on and off with the Prefbar add-on/extension, so you don't have to go into the preferences to do it.

The add-on/extension Ghostery blocks web bugs. Prefbar and Ghostery have been updated for 4.0.

Today my Firefox updated to 3.6.16 and as soon as completed that update a pop up came up stating to download 4. What is the purpose of 3.6.16?

I downloaded it a couple of hours ago, and umm ... beh, it's okay and all, but it deleted all of my saved bookmarks and passwords, except for one ... lol, and maybe the most important one ... JUB!!! :D

I'll play around with more later on tonight or tomorrow morning to see what all the hubbub is aboot.

I configured the layout so it's closer to the old style.

Disaster for me. After installing, I was able to visit only two websites before Firefox 4 froze and I was unable to close it, until I used Ctrl/Alt/Delete and was able to shut down my computer. I booted up and tried Firefox again..and same deal.

So, using Internet Explorer, I downloaded and installed Chrome, and uninstalled Firefox. Now...all is well with Chrome as my default browser.
