Firefox 6.0 is out.

Why is firefox suddenly going from 5 to 6 instead of 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 etc? It seems less important now to update to the latest .0 version.

"But Chrome is already at 13, so it must be better than Firefox 6!"

Yes, because of those people.

Only annoying thing with these rapid updates is that some of my favourite add-ons still haven't caught up with the 5 update!

Yah many of mine just got updated to 5 and now 6 comes out. It is kind of why I switched over to chrome for now.

Fucking people are getting version happy.

Linux kernel 3.0 - then weeks later, 3.1. Windows 7, 8 (which are not actually windows 7.0, 8.0). Version numbers used to be a bit of an aid. Not they tack on a digit every build it seems.

It is said that mozillia will no longer be displaying version numbers to users.

Good news. Amazingly, I updated yesterday in the end - and there's just one add-on that isn't working.

Bad news - it's my favourite add-on 'eQuakes alert'. I really miss my real time screen shaking everytime there's an earthquake somewhere in the world - especially as there's some 6.+ activity due in the next couple days...

Can anyone tell me how to stop my computer from giving me that annoying "urgent firefox update needed" flag that comes up on my screen every hour or two? I ignored (clicked "later" button) on the Firefox 5.0 for over a month before finally giving in last week and updating. (no real changes noticed). Now, only a week later, I am getting the same thing for FF 6!!!! How can i block these notices? (other than download FF 6...lol)

They've seemed to have gotten rid of the status bar at the bottom. I had several add-ons that I could activate there, gone :(

Edit, ah nevermind. They've renamed it 'Add-on bar' and it's not shown by default...

My add-ons are still there, yay!

I am thinking of drinking the punch and upgrading. I hope I won't regret it!

I avoided updating for a few days because the add on updates weren't there - but then decided I would because I'm sure they will follow on PDQ.
