Hey guys,
So I had my first experience the other day. I sucked this guys cock to completion and the next morning my throat was sore.

It could just be that I'm getting sick, but I thought it might also be from him hitting the back of my throat. He is about 6.5'' and I gagged a few times when he tried to thrust in while I was already trying to take all of him.

So my question is, have you ever gotten a sore throat form sucking cock?

I'm a novice and appreciate any tips or information. Thanks guys!

Yes sucking cock can give you a sore throat. Especially if you are taking it deep down your throat.

But .. sucking cock until "completion" is NOT safe sex - you should be aware of that.

First a general piece of advice: know the dick you suck, or rather the guy to whom it is attached. I've never gotten the allure of glory hole BJs: I just imagine there's some troll who can't get laid otherwise on the other side of the wall, lol! Also, they're a great way to catch all kinds of nasty shit!

Contracting HIV via oral sex -- even to completion -- remains controversial: some studies support it, other are at best equivocal. Nonetheless all agree it is a relatively low-risk act. The mouth and throat don't get traumatized to anywhere near the same extent as the vaginal and especially anal canals do during intercourse, so there's less chance that you blood will contact his bodily fluids. Suffice it to say don't go down on a guy it if you have any gaping sores in your mouth.

The great problem with HIV is that it blind-sides us to other more common STIs, which are easily transmitted via an oral vector.

Apart from your sore throat, do you have any other 'constitutional' symptoms: fever, chills, aches, pains? Do you feel sick? Probably the most commonly transmitted oral STD is gonorrhea of the oropharanx, which presents almost exactly like strep throat. If you have those symptoms, you'll have to get your throat cultured because the antibiotic treatment is different.

Which leads to my next very important question: do you have a reliable primary care doc? I think it's especially important for GLBT people to find doctors who are both sensitive to the needs of our community and are non-judgmental. While in truth they're all supposed to be, in practice it's not quite the same -- more so, in Louisiana I imagine. So if you don't have a local doc in whom you feel comfortable confiding, I'd trot my homo butt down to New Orleans, where there is a large GLBT community and a lot of Tulane-based doctors -- many of them gay -- to treat them.

Just out of curiosity, was the guy straight? Or playing on the side?

Of course another piece of advise is not medical. If you're gagging, you're not having a good time!

Oral sex comes in two flavors: 'giving head' and 'face fucking'. Personally I prefer the latter: he sits back and lets me give him pleasure. I don't just suck him: I run my tongue up and down his shaft, around the head, stick it into his meatus (pee-hole), kiss and worship his cock, caress and squeeze his balls, suck on them, maybe finger his butt if he's into it -- prostate massage can give the most intense orgasms! Maybe he applies gentle pressure to my head, but he does not force his cock down my throat. I loose all interest in a guy if he decides he wants to 'face fuck' me!

Sometimes I will take a cock all the way in but a lot of guys' (and chicks') gag-reflex will not permit them to deep throat. This does not mean you still can't give fantastic head!

Personally, one of my favorite intimate acts is 69ing. It's very democratic: no 'alpha male' dyanamic!

Love finds a way--with no sore throat.

IMHO your first ought to be a great experience. Don't let anyone tell you that you need directions; learning by doing with a loving partner aims at enjoyment for both partners.

Give yourself and your partner time for an afterglow in which you try to put into words what you have just experienced and your partner does the same.

Above all never "use" another person in sex and never allow yourself to be simply someone who is used.

Gold standard sex is true communion between two persons; there is no seduction because both partiies want and need loving sexual interaction.

Take the time to enjoy that cock as you suck to completion. Take time to enjoy the shaft from head to base. Take that cock in and out of your mouth as you suck it. Jack that shaft on occassion play with those balls the cock head. Enjoy it!
