Lately I've had the urge to have sex like all the time.

I've used Adam in the past before, and recently started to go to men's spas (but only on their discounted specials days, I'm a horny cheapskate haha). Been hearing a lot about Craigslist and wanted to know ppl's thoughts on it.

I'm thinking of posting a listing, and wanted to know what to look out for. In what ways is it similar to Adam, how to avoid flakes, etc. Would you recommend it as an easy & inxpensive way to hook up?

It's no different than A4A, M4SN, Manhunt, etc. If you post an ad, be prepared for spam. Overall, I prefer sites like A4A - for me, CL often yields endless e-mails that go nowhere.

I've read many CL horror stores, but I've never had a problem and can't see how it's different from A4A (I've had several negative A4A experiences, including getting robbed once).

Because it's free and does nothing to check the validity of anyone, don't expect much on craigslist and be REAL careful. Craigslist has been credited for just about everything from identity theft to home invasions and worse. As you will quickly find out, it's also a haven for hustlers looking for money.

I completely agree with you that one needs to exercise discretion when utilizing Craigslist. However, one should be exercising that same discretion when using any hook-up websites. Robberies resulting from gay hook-up websites are more widespread that what's reported as most victims (including myself) are too embarrassed/shamed to say anything. And hustling is probably as common on A4A as it is on CL.

A slightly off-topic question, but is A4A for hookups only or also for relationships?

It's not just for hook-ups, but only a small number of users are pursuing friendship & relationships. I entered a relationship with someone I met on A4A. Before BBing, we tested clean at the health department but he later gave me syphilis (I was lucky it was just that!) I doubt I'd take anybody off that site seriously again. And it seems there are a lot of guys who are addicted to that site...

Yea it can be pretty addicting. I started in spring 08 and have deleted and rejoined Adam so many times since. Then recently I found the wonderful (though expensive) world of bathhouses, and I said "where have you been all along?"

Anyway, I posted an ad last night, and I already learned some lessons on what to do and what not to do. I posted right before leaving to the gym, saying I wanted to play afterwards. Big mistake: I got like 5 replies almost right away, most looking for now. Well, I was going to be 2 hours at the gym, and in the fast-paced world of CL ads, emails get stale after 30mins.

So then I tried deleting my ad, thinking I could repost it when I got out of the gym. Second big mistake: apparently CL frowns upon repostings. This is where Adam has the advantage, as you can easily just log out & log back in so that you're at the top of the "guys online" list when you want to, with no penalty.

I reposted anyway, using slightly different wording and a different email address. I got about five solicitations again, but I was dealing with connection problems so I couldn't reply to the solicitations I wanted in a timely manner, so once again they became stale.

So I guess the lesson here is that you've got to be sure that when you post on Craigslist, you're ready NOW, and you reply promptly, if you're gonna want some action. Hopefully I'll have better luck another night. Or, I'll just rejoin Adam, for the billionth time... :-/
