the only name I recognized is Haggerty and I think I'm confusing him with Somebody Fogerty.

That would be John Fogerty from Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Neil Haggerty is from Royal Trux. he has an honest, no frills voice even though his girlfriend Jennifer Herrema sings most of the songs.

OMG there was a video years ago of her live with a band whose name escapes me but you'd all know them, she did this unearthly scat riff that went well into her whistle register and i thought i could die. if the video still exists on youtube i can't find it.
