Season is about to start. Just heard that Vettel appears to be quickest, heading Webber, in 2nd practice in Melbourne.

Any fans here? Any opinions on whether Red Bull will maintain their edge - or will it be closer than 2012, when other teams were catching up and sometimes bettering them?

Will Vettel win the championship again, or could Webber find more consistency - or perhaps Alonso - or someone else?

Personally, as drivers, I like Webber and Button - but that doesn't mean to say I think they will win the championship. A few team changes could make life interesting. Could Hamilton do better at Mercedes? Will Perez leap forward now he is with McLaren? Personally I think he has a lot of promise...but time will tell.

Will some of the 'up and coming' drivers be a surprise? - and will Grosjean have gotten his temperament and talent more aligned to make headlines for reasons other than taking people out?...and of course there are plenty of other personalities and variables.

Who do you like - and who do you think will win, or show substantial improvement?

*EDIT*
I'll be away for a few days - but hope to see some other thoughts when I get back :)

It's been a pretty good season so far. I think it's going to be hard for anyone to surpass Vettel. Was happy to see Nico win Monaco, always liked him. Really excited to hear Honda will be back in 2015. Hopefully Mclaren/Honda can reproduce some of their past glories.

Wow - a reply! Thank you :)

Well, it is closer than recent years. I still don't like Vettel but he is in the box seat at the moment - even tho' he has one win he 'stole'. Grosjean is still taking people out - and, yes, it was refreshing to see Nico win Monaco...tho', of course, the 'tyre testing' debate is now raging following on from the race.

I wonder if Webber is going to stick with Red Bull much longer (or vice versa)? I doubt he will commit until the 'next season negotiations' start...but I can't somehow see him being prepared to tolerate another season with Vettel...who Red Bull will surely want to retain - he is the champion and they have been favouring him for the past couple of seasons. He is undoubtedly a talented driver - it's just a shame he's such a bad sportsman with a bad attitude.

Nico needs to be at Ferrari, with the right equipment he'd show them how it's done :D

I wish I could make the US race this year, but it's so expensive. It would cost me a $2000 just for the weekend.

It's odd, I kind of like Vettel. I don't see him leaving Red Bull anytime soon. Webber on the other hand sadly might be out but he could end up at Ferrari. Massa has been fucking up and they might want to get rid of him. They'll need an experienced driver to replace Massa. Nico would also be a good option, would love to see him at Ferrari. I heard the tickets for the actual race are not that expensive but the hotel prices are out of control. Going to Austin plus an F1 race would be great. The Canadian GP showed there is no stopping Red Bull.

Well, Webber is leaving F1 and going to Porsche - which makes for a whole heap of interesting "who is moving where" rumours to do the rounds.
