Hi all, kind of new to this whole thing, joined an app to see if I could fine guys to chjat with mainly, and see where it goes when I feel comfortable.

however I found a friend from years ago, we were friendly to each other didn't do anything as I have been super shy, and till the other day I wouldn't have realized he's gay. we have kept eachother on facebook, honestly don't know why as I havn't spoken to him in years.

I know its him as he has face pics up, and they are the same ones as on his facebook page.
I introduced myself "Hi Im nath how are you?" I know great opener, anyway he responded he's looking for someone he use to know on the app, long story short we are still chatting in the app just random stuff friends would chat about, nothing sexual.
I'm happy with this as I am mainly looking for people to chat with and keep me company, however he doesn't realize he knows me as my profile is my stomach.

should I mention that I know him, msg him on facebook and let him know?

I mean he is cute, but at this stage im just looking for chats anyway

I enjoy chats but don't want to deceive him, although he hasn't asked for a face pic or anything we are just chatting like mates would.

So both of you seem to be interested in chatting with each other as friends and it seems to me that being open towards him is necessary when you want to continue with chatting with him, and in particular because you tell that you don't want to deceive him.
 
thats what I thought, Hes already said he's not looking as he's trying to find the one he lost contact with a while ago and Im kind of shy so Im seeing how things go. there is probably nothing going to come of it apart form more chats but its probably the right thing to do
 
Let him know as soon as possible.
 
thanks people, I let him know, he's in the middle of contacting people as he lost a lot of friends he responded but hasn't spoke since but hes trying to re connect with a lot of old friends so he may respond back, Im not fussed just happy to know there are people I can talk to
 
Yup, just contact him and let him know who you are and just see how he responds. Its always good that you will have some people with whom you can talk to and who know about your backgrounds. Good luck.
 
thanks for all the advice, been chatting with him for a bit now, Im not at the point where I want someone, but its nice to know I have someone I can chat with a little closer to me.
