As you are aware, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has claimed her city will sue Fox News over that network's bizarre reportage that there are "no-go zones" in Paris where only Muslims are allowed to enter. Fox reported these areas to be too dangerous for non-Muslim Parisians to enter, more dangerous even than Iraq or Afghanistan. Fox even produced a map of the mythical zones. Parisians are insulted by the fabrications, which suggest that Paris is a dangerous city to traverse, and is intolerant of any group.

Fox has apologized four times for this particular lie. It seems to be part of a concerted campaign by Fox to stir up intolerance against Muslims. The network keeps trying to promote the use of the term Islamic terrorism, and has claimed the religion to be canonically violent on several programs. It may be that Fox has concluded, in the shadow of the pending SCOTUS consideration of gay marriage, that gays are no longer working as a whipping boy, and the network has decided to pursue other groups for Americans to hate.

The French TV show Le Petit Journal has created a humorous video, mocking two supposed Fox reporters in Paris. It's pretty funny:

I'm perplexed by the ignorance displayed by so called educated people on so called no go areas in European cities:

Even David Cameron was convulsed with astonishment:

I quote:

Oddly enough, Fox News got into trouble recently on the "no-go zone" nonsense, too, as when Steve Emerson, a so-called terrorism expert, explained to the American masses that Birmingham, a major British urban center, was populated entirely by Muslims and that "non-Muslims just simply don't go in."

British Prime Minister David Cameron correctly labeled him "a complete idiot," and Emerson's remark caused a spokesperson for the network to admit that Muslim "no-go zones" don't actually exist, not in Britain, not in Europe.

Unfortunately a whole lot of old white scared people do watch FOX news and it is the only narrative that they believe.

Even the French action won't change their approach...they know that fear and lies sell.

I know lots of people who watch Fox news, and they believe it, because they want to believe it. They'll believe something else tomorrow.

From the news footage,
America seems to be a more dangerous place to visit

Alors! I have to hand it to the Froggers. We should all be suing Fox News [sic] for wasting time and taking up a band of the TV spectrum, whatever. The racist, stupid, blond, blue-eyed cunts they get to babble Right Wing dogma....jeez! Vive la France!

You get no Freedom Fries. Back to the Bay with you communist!

If only we could do the same in the US.

I know of no one who watches or has ever watched Fox news.

Same here.

I used to be exactly like you guys. I do not even have a TV at home. But my new employer keeps Fox News playing 24/7 on large screen TVs in all the break rooms, so now I have no choice but to notice.

I have to say it has been quite a revelation, being exposed to Fox like that. I had no idea!

I knew about their history of photoshopping images of liberals to make them look ugly, and of editing videos with wrong footage to make Republicans look more favorable with larger crowds at events, etc. I knew about the fabricated news items, like the fake "no go zones." and about Fox's constant legal problems for lying. But I was not prepared for the racism, bigotry, sexism, and xenophobia. It seems to me that it should be illegal to do what Fox does - try to stir up hatred against various minorities that they have targeted for attack. I find it profoundly disturbing.

I was surprised by the doom and gloom. The network is humorless. Everything is a crisis which will destroy America. Gay marriage will destroy religion and the fabric of American society. Low gas prices will destroy the American economy. Obamacare will kill millions of Americans as it destroys the American economy. A nurse in Maine who clearly does not have Ebola will nevertheless start a mass infection that will kill you. The metric system brought down AirAsia Flight QZ8501, and may kill you, too. Obama has worsened race relations (because, you know, he's black). Obama has started class warfare (because, you know, he's black). Islam is a religion of canonical violence, and you need to watch out for Muslims on the street, because they will probably try to kill you.

There is a daily segment called "Outnumbered" where a straight white guy sits on a couch with four prostitutes, two on either side. The white guy explains how he hates Obama, gays, Muslims, the middle class, etc. while the prostitutes coo about how smart he is and how lucky they are to have him on the show. The prostitutes are instructed to sit with their legs crossed, and the camera comes in almost at knee height, tantalizing you that you will be able to catch a view of their snatches on national television. Unbelievably, the Twitter hashtag for the show is #oneluckyguy!

It's the sort of thing that would make great satire. Except they're serious.

It makes me sad that there are people in America so intent on getting us to hate each other.

Anyway, the employees are revolting. We've managed to get management to switch one of the TVs in one break room to the Food Channel for 12 hrs/day.

One step at a time.

Franco-American spaghetti was changed to Campbells. What a bunch of douches. Their soup sucks too!

OHHHH. While you're at it, you guys need to change Francfurter to FreedomFurter!!!!!

Everybody knows it's a freedomfurter.

All of this silliness came about because former Pres. Sarkozy wouldn't kiss W's behind (not too hot for "coalition of the willing," or something.) We should remember that after 9/11, one of the early calls of condolence was from France.
