Fans of Justin Timberlake's 2006 set "FutureSex/LoveSounds" can look forward to two new releases this November. The CD/DVD set "FutureSex/LoveSounds Deluxe Edition" will be made available Nov. 27 via Jive, while the Best Buy exclusive DVD "FutureSex/LoveShow: Live From Madison Square Garden" hits shelves on Nov. 20.

The updated "FutureSex/LoveSounds" includes several bonus tracks, including a new version of "Until the End of Time" with additional vocals by Beyonce. The DVD portion contains footage from performances, plus making-of remarks on videos for the tracks "SexyBack," "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," "My Love," and "LoveStoned/I Think She Knows."

The double-DVD "FutureSex/LoveShow" tracks Timberlake's August 2007 performance at the famed New York venue, with the singer's own commentary, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. The show was recently broadcast on HBO.

I got a the track already with Beyonce, it's nice. I wish he would offer the videos though.

Wow, Future Sex/Love Sounds is getting really old, i hardly listen to it anymore

I really hate the "expanded" versions of discs. The idea of putting an album out again, with a few extras tacked on, is the sort of thing that does little to dispel the idea that labels are just "out to make a buck". Why not just put out the extras separately at a lower price? Because they make more if they make you buy the CD again, obviously.

I do have two "extended" albums in my collection, but both were reissued many years after their original released, and in each case, my old copy had been scratched to hell anyway, and it was time to upgrade. (For those that care, Bob Marley's Legend and Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend.)

Gosh why do all these artist release albums then months later release it again? I dont see the point. I've had to buy like 5 albums again. Its getting old now.

If you're wanting a new JT CD, get "Just-In The Mix".
It has a good selection of remixes from both of his albums. ..|

I wont be purchasing this, though - It just seems a waste of money.. I'd sooner download the Bonus material, than pay for the entire CD again.

I like this cd and I dont own it, but I'm not gonna get it. I already have Spice Girls and Kylie to look out for, plus this year I bought quite a few cds and dvds by major pop artists, adding this would be too much lol, but I might consider getting Britney's Black Out tho *shh...*

Well, let's do a little math. (Relax - it's simple.)

So the CD comes out. A bunch of people snap it up for $18. It's very popular. In the last few months, they've accumulated new material - remixes of singles, maybe a few B-sides from singles, some music videos. They could just put out a CD of "extras" for, say, $10. Or they could put out an "expanded version" for $24. There are probably some people who WOULD buy the $10 extras CD, but won't buy the $24 expanded version. But how many of them are there?

If they sell 24 copies of the "extras" CD, that's $240. But they only need to sell 10 copies of the expanded CD to make the same $240. That's less than half. So as long as they don't scare away more than half of the people who are interested in the extras, they'll make more money by putting out the expanded/deluxe version. And I think that's a safe bet. I'd say probably less than a quarter of the people interested in the material will be scared away by the cost. So they put out the deluxe version, people buy it, and everybody's happy. Well, except the people who were coerced into buying the album twice.

>>>does it NEED to be expanded????

I think we're to the point that any pop-R&B-oriented album that sells over three million copies gets the expansion treatment as a matter of course.

A quick nod to one band (and label) who did it correctly...or at least did it with a sense of humor. The band the New Pornographers released two versions of their Challengers CD. There's the standard one, and there's the "Executive Edition". The Executive Edition features a total of FOUR CDs. The first one is the standard CD. The other three have pretty artwork, but are blank. For now.

Here's the deal. You buy the box set, and it has a link to the website where the band will be putting the bonus material as they record it. Once the material is up there, you can download it, and burn it onto the special CD-Rs they've provided. The first CD-R is meant for the B-sides, demo versions and alternate mixes. The second will be for a live concert they'll post from their current tour. And the third CD-R will be for photos, artwork, and music videos. All four CDs come in a nice limited edition box.

Cost? Three bucks more than the standard CD. And you only have to buy it once.

But here in MD when a cd first come out they only $10 at Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-Mart (if you want edited), Target, The Sound Garden

And then when the expanded versions come out they the same price.

I was doing list price. Most places carry it for less. But most expanded versions are usually several dollars more than the original versions.

I find it annoying when people release special editions when I already have the cd. People should be rewarded with bonus tracks and remixes etc if they buy the album early not wait till it is two years old. I did buy two copies of Pink's last album because the tour edition came with a dvd with video's for all the singles on it.

This weeks sales...19,291

Sales to date...3,704,778

Their probably trying to push it over the 4 million mark.

I think Justin (or other artists for that matter) should pull a Beyonce -- re-release the album with a different tracklisting, not just tack a few new tracks on at the end, and differentiate the title by adding "Deluxe Edition", "2.1" or whatever. This way makes it more like a new release.
