A question someone asked in the Fun and Games Forum jogged my memory, and made me recall the Gay Comix series, which ran from 1980 to 1998. These comic books were compilations by LGBTQ+ artists.



I love the cover artwork for the first Gay Comix edition. It features a young man, the epitome of male beauty, suggestively eating a long mustard-covered hot dog, while being ogled by a "closet case."

Because now everybody "understands"... just like everybody understands democracy or science, that is.
It comes from a time in which gay people were silly funny people in jokes or movies, and general gayness "IRL" was undercover to the mainstream mass. Now it is one's choice to keep yourself "on the down low", or whatever you may call it in English. Although there have always been people who always "understood" and "detected" other people's gayness, because they were more interested in gay sexuality than gay people themselves.
