First of all, I'm not even sure how many gay guys (and gals) play Wordl of Warcraft, but here goes :p

I'm thinking of maybe making a gay guild in the game, on the server "Defias Brotherhood" RP-PVP-EU where theres an equal amount of players on each faction, and some overall friendly players (apart from the goons).

The thing is, I'm getting really tired of players trying to be bangers, or players insulting pop music and culture. Besides, it could be fun to play the game in a totally gay friendly atmospere. I know not all gays are into pop culture, but the other aspects could be really interesting!

Would anyone be interested in such a guild? It could be on another european server. Or does such a guild already exist somewhere?

Hu what? you mean there are people who are not fond of lady gaga and madonna or so, and that's why you think you need a gay guild

there are quite a few gay guilds already. but i don't really see the need for it. most people that i regularly play with somehow got to know that I am gay .. nobody cares, not even at guild meetings.

No, as I said, I know not every gay guy is into that, I just thought it would be interesting to be able to share the game with other gays, since the conversations would definately be more intersting. And unfortunately, on my server, there's a lot of drama concerning gays, and lots of insults, which is irritating :)

then why do you pull this up as an argument? still don't see why a gay guild would be better, or have more interesting conversations - unless you only want to flirt with your guildmates and share some naughty stories
if you stumble over any gay insults just immediately report it in a ticket. blizzard is quite heavy handed with that.

Proudmoore (US) is the unofficial LGBT server on WOW. There are quite a lot of gay guilds on that server.

The two largest are the Spreading Taint (Horde) and La Familia de Stonewall (Alliance). They are both large umbrella-guilds.

Gay players often desire to join a more gay-friendly guild for friendship and comraderie. Please follow the links to find out more about them. A player doesn't have to be LGBT to apply to the guilds, but most of their players are LGBT.

I recently told a friend about these guilds and he applied for membership with the Spreading Taint. He seems to be quite happy with the decision.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

I'm personally a bit put off by the OPs topic. You need to have some thick skin to play a MMO or any online game. Name calling (derogatory or not) and bashing another player is commonground, especially in a PvP atmosphere. I tolerate when people say something's "gay" but the word "faggot" is a definate no-no and report people who use it in trade or group right away.
I feel there is a miss-step in logic here. How would being in a "like-minded" group lead to more interesting conversations? We have people from all over the "world" and conversations are very diverse and very interesting in my guild. My guild is jokingly called a Canadian-friendly guild because about half my guild is from Canada. Even our tabard is red and white with a maple leaf on it.

Back on topic now. My guildies know I am gay and have no problem with it. I actually had another gay player removed from my guild because he was overly dramatic. Not to mention he was constantly hitting on me despite the fact that I told him I have a BF.
Again I think the problem is that you probably don't like the guild you are in and are looking for a scapegoat to leave. There is a LGBT-friendly guild on my server also but I won't join it. It comes down to whether or not you "fit-in" with the group of people.

Maxpwr9 hit what I'd have said right on the spot, although I have no qualms with gay-only guilds. I have 2 guilds, Horde and Alliance, who know I'm gay and accept me for who I am, so I've never seen the point of finding a guild of only gay men or women.

If you're still interested in a gay-only guild, prepared to be flamed for announcing it publicly. No other way to recruit than to just hit up the forums, trade, or the chat channels. Targeting players means telling strangers what the guild caters to and could also backfire.

scrap that .. if you publically advertise it as a gay guild you can get into trouble with blizzard because it's basically the same as if you go around in trade chat and advertise a "black guys only" guild. they don't want sexuality or race to be an issue in this game.

Taint and Stonewall have been on Proudmoore for a long time. One time Blizzard did ban a gay guild and it caused a mini-shitstorm. But most gay guilds are friendly to all, they just mainly cater to gays.

I play on the server that has half my state on it and I know of no gay people on it (other than myself). I know one bisexual, though.

True. But if you advertise as a "gay-friendly" guild, it becomes another issue entirely.

I love Taint and Stonewall. They also have an in-game gay pride parade every year. They parade through the barrens and sail to Booty Bay (best name ever), and have a big gay party. IT'S HUGE!

I agree I shouldn't have said go for an exclusively gay guild, as the poster above me said, it becomes something entirely different if the guild is gay friendly.

It's a shame you aren't on US servers, as mentioned before Proudmoore is pretty much the place to be for gay players.

Damn, don't even play WoW.... Or any MMO right now actually

But once "The Old Republic" comes out I will be coming back here to see if there are any "Gay" guilds

I think there was a topic like this about Team Fortress? Or was it Left 4 dead? Eh probably a steam group that just was involved in all the games. Did not know there were a lot of gay opportunities in online gaming

So use to hearing the word "Faggot" gay friendly groups never even occurred to me

Wtf how do you ban a guild?

You mean they disbanded it or told them to? They banned all the players?

Whatever happened thats rough. Blizzard should have known that doing that would have been counter
productive.

Now I want to play WoW :(

Sorry for the long absence. Well, the guild is created, and is off to a flying start. I know about the mentioned guilds, but unfortunately, it's too expensive (and too much work) to change servers for that only.

I'm not trying to scapegoat, as almost every guild I've been in have been guilds I made myself ;)

But, I took the chance, and have now made a gay-friendly guild on Defias Brotherhood EU called "Pretty in Pink" :)

As the other gay-friendly guilds, we just want an open friendly atmosphere for the community. We started 6 days ago, and have 23 members already, where about half of them are gays themselves. That's a good start I think :)

The guild have already hosted 2 dance-offs. The first one in Orgrimmar, and the second in all the capitals around the horde side. We got a lot of good attention, and many people think it's a good idea, and want to support us :)
