You mean gay marriage is polygamous TOO, as polygamous as straight marriage.

I do not even have one favourite porn star... I subscribed to some of Cassidy's sites for a while but, although I had always found his looks more interesting and appealing (literally warts and all) than the rest, I couldn't even bring myself to pay for his gas or rent bills, go figure marrying him.

Porn stars are ultimately too average, too common.

What about you?

I can't imagine that I would choose a porn star as a partner (why wife?)...but there are a few that I might use as my free pass.

Defining couples as husband and wife is a needlessly limited way to conceive of pair bonding. It's heteronormative, so an impediment to gays forminng a model for love.

Wife is as narrow as describing gays as either tops or bottoms, when that is only true when it is true. Wife connotes a feminized role, whether for man or woman. It's both sexist and anti-feminist when applied to gay men, as it imposes gender roles on a wide range of behaviors that may be in common to both men or to neither.

In my singular life, I'm the car mechanic, the gardener, the cook, the cleaner, the breadwinner, the handcrafter, the musician, the groundsman, the house painter, the decorator, the tax preparer, the sci-fi fan, the romantic, the laundry person, the grocery shopper and the furniture restorer.

I don't see any of those as modern feminine or masculine. They are things people do, and have been done by men and women alike all my life. A gay couple is man and man, whatever kinds of men they are.

As for gay marriage, I don't think polygamous is a good model for gays if choosing marriage. There is an implication of permanence when using the term marriage. Being polyamorous is a threat to the majority of marriages, gay or straight. So, embedding the polyamory into the marriage just seems to be inherently making the arrangement less than marriage, for most people.

I'm not saying I'm against polyamorous relationships. I think many a married man has sowed his wild oats and eventally settled back down to happiness with one. And I've known gay couples that were in pretty open relationships, and it seemed to work for them, although it did not feel permanent when looking in from the outside. I think long-term marriage relationships that are gay and have more than two in the circle are very, very rare, almost the exception.

Sometimes people see an opportunity to get something off their chest and take it. It's all good.

Oh, I don't see enough in the two lines to indicate humor or other. It's just a toss-up question with caveats, meant to get people talking about favorite porn stars.

So, for many of us, the porn stars aspect is less attractive than the caveats.

I mean, if a three-way is the only point, then comments about polygamy and gay marriage are distractions.

And, as a footnote, I don't think of Mormons when polygamy is mentioned, as they walked away from it when their prophet saw the end of Mormonism being imminent around 1900 if they did not acquiesce to federal law. I usually think of Islam. In neither case does it bother me. The world's cultures are on very different evolutionary timelines, and not equal.
