This documentary about the history of disco music is very interesting. Gay men played a big part in dance music. Every dance genres that came out through the years comes from discos. Straight men invented rock music. Gay men invented dance music.

Thanks for this film. Some may look down their noses at this sort of music today, but , love it or hate it, this is an important part of our history, our culture, it's where we're comming from.
The film does not mention the two greatest gay clubs of all time, The Saint and the Paradise Garage, both NYC. If I had a time machine I would love to have it take me to the dancefloor of these clubs but sadly this is not possible.
It would be great if there were any members who go back far enough to remember these sort of discos. Please tell me, were they really that good? I'm sure they were.

Good documentary on the history of disco and its origins in and influence on the gay community. Though I might quibble a bit with some of the specific claims made in the piece, it is definitely worth watching.

I found them pretty great, even back to 1971, when police still raided bars. Boston had The Other Side/1270/Boston Boston. And people dancing in those days were happy, and it showed on their faces as they danced. Later on in the decade, in San Francisco, two clubs stood out. The I-Beam opened in late 1977 and about 5 months later, in 1978, Trocadero Transfer opened.
