A while ago, my computer caught a trojan and I used a program at my college to get rid of it. The program required my computer to go into safe mode. Anyways, I only used that program for that one instance. However, everytime I turn on my computer, the first thing that pops up is this prompt asking me to select from "Safe" or "Normal" mode. How do I just make it go to normal without asking that every time??

Thanks!! It's my first time asking a question in the Tech/Comp section, so I hope my question isn't dumb.

Did you uninstall the program off your computer?

I deleted the program and I checked the "Add/Remove Programs" list to see if it is there and it's not.

This is what mine says:

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition [Safe Mode Networking]"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition [Normal Mode]" /fastdetect
[BU_backup]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Media Center Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

I checked the Systems Config thing and yes, it is showing that my comp is running on safe mode.

I tried to change it, but it wouldn't let me because I had to "sign in as an administrator"... That's weird because I don't have to sign in to use my comp.

THANK YOU!

I tried it and it still says I have to log on as an administrator... this is so frustrating.

Thanks for your help

Can you do it "offline", outside of Windows? Boot into MS-DOS/command prompt with, say, a self-booting floppy disk or a CD-ROM with system files on it. Edit your boot.ini (carefully) without booting into Windows. It shouldn't give you any "Administrator" nonsense if you're not within Windows itself?
