I'm single here but have been wondering about this, nonetheless.

I was wondering if it's possible to get tested with my 'guy' and both of us know of each other's status [STDs & HIV] before moving forwards.

Is it possible a clinic or doctor would/could do that in America?

Or is this simply an unrealistic thought since this deals with privacy and rights.

Any information on this would be greatly appreciated here - as it would help adjust my expectations accordingly.

Well you should get some record of your status... A clinic here give you a piece of paper that says the results right on it, so even if you can't get it done together, you can still see each other's results, and then you're still 100% sure.

Are you in Canada?

I'm in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if it's different in Canada - if you were there. I have heard of this idea introduced by guys that lived there, for what it's worth.

Not sure of clinics in US that provide specific information like that. Were you speaking of a clinic in the US?

Yes I am in Canada, that's why I said "a clinic here". I am not sure if it's different in the states. In fact, I assume it probably is.

But it doesn't hurt to ask at the clinic, or phone them ahead of time or something.

Nope a clinic in the US will provide you with information that you may show to whomever you wish. Every time I have either went to a clinic or taken a friend the staff always does individual interviews and testing. Regardless of how well your into someone they are more honest when alone with a stranger.

It is no matter. SImply go with the person and list them as your sexual partner when ask. The clinic will then have to inform you that one of your partners tested positive should that occur.

Bottom line is get tested.

As long as you consent, you can have whomever you wish in a exam/treatment room with you.

As a rule, as long as the person with you is not interfering with a medical procedure, it is acceptable to have them with you. Elderly people bring a family member with them into the exam room quite often. An example of where we would not allow it is a situation were there is a sterile area such as a surgical suite.

Thanks fellas, feedback appreciated here!

Still getting over how the idea of getting tested together is something that isn't done more.

And for what it's worth, I'm single here and was looking forward to the future on how to tackle this. The replies offered will help me figure out what options I can pursue - again, thanks for that!
