Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society (攻殻機動隊 S.A.C. Solid State Society, Kōkaku Kidōtai: Solid State Society?) is the 2006 anime film based on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series, which is based on Masamune Shirow's manga Ghost in the Shell. It is produced by Production I.G, who announced the film at the 2006 Tokyo Anime Fair, and is directed by Kenji Kamiyama. The film has a production budget of 360 million yen (equivalent to US$3.2 million).
In order to provide theatrical quality, the film was premiered in Japan on the satellite PPV platform SKY PerfecTV! Perfect Choice ch160, on September 1, 2006.[1] It is also set to air in Japan on the anime satellite TV network Animax from May 27, 2007. The film was also released on DVD in Japan on November 24, 2006, and will be released in the U.S. by Bandai Entertainment and Manga Entertainment, in a normal and limited edition on July 3, 2007.[2] It was announced at Anime Expo 2006 that Solid State Society is not scheduled to be the final iteration of the Stand Alone Complex series.
The Sci Fi Channel aired Solid State Society as part of its Anime Monday on June 11 at 11:00 p.m. Eastern. Unlike the Cartoon Network's airings of the television series, the aspect ratio of the film was aired in an altered full-screen "pan and scan" aspect ratio instead of the original widescreen.
What is this? A sequel to 'Innocnece'?
Ghost In The Shell was a great film and stands up well today despite the animation looking a bit dated, while GITS 2 - Innocence is a sight to behold, but the story I think lacks a lot now that the Major is not a major player in that movie. To me it came off as amazing visually, but the story was thin. So, is this new movie a sequel to Innocence, or a movie spin off from the STAND ALONE COMPLEX series ?
I wish I got Sci Fi.
I heard they're starting Anime Nights now, so Perhaps this is how they're kicking it off.
*wishes he had Sci Fi*

But you've got Space...how could you go wrong with that.I wish I got Sci Fi.
