Decided to quit this shit about 2 weeks ago. The side effects are CRAZY. I do not recommend going cold turkey. You may experience things like being light headed, brain zaps, weird euphoria type shit, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, etc etc..

Fuck SSRI's!!!! :##:

was on Zoloft for years , quit completely with no recognizable side-effects . I suspect personal variation in response to pharmaceuticals can vary considerably : a friend of mine once hallucinated on Neo-Citran .

Good for you. All those things are like poison.

..| Yee--up. I started to ween off of it back in April from 50mg to 25mg and then went off of it completely about three weeks ago. I was getting the brain zaps, light-headedness but not really anymore.

Gaining way too much weight and now trying to take it off..not so much as weight gain but got a spare-tire and I was exercising and eating right too. I went from a 32 inch waist to 37 very fast!!...just a few months... and exercising consistently. I was blaming it on the "winter weight" and blah, blah, blah but no more.. Asked my doctor and he said the side effect is weight gain and to watch carbohydrates. I was getting fat around my abs and around my outer thighs and looked like cellulite [-X Now finally losing slowly and toning up again. I will NEVER go on that stuff again!!

Hopefully my metabolism will kick back in place and I could loose this bit of a paunch. Your metabolism just shuts down completely. I did a google search on Weight Gain \ Zoloft and it def causes that. Lost about 3lbs already so going well... I need to lose about 15 more and will be good. ..|

It's great that it's working out so well for you and that you don't even "need" it at all anymore. Keep up the good work, man. Cheers.

I was on megafuckin doses of Zoloft for awhile...like 275mg...my memory really got fucked up. I probably gained weight, too. I weaned off it and don't have any residual problems. More recently, I started on Welbutrin a few months ago. Now on 450, kind of a standard dose, I guess. Comes in 150, 300 and one of each..lol. Butt...get this: my side effects are: hella focused, high energy...like, gettin stuff done, AND weight LOSS and increased libido. DAMN. Oh, and I am not so depressed, either.

You cannot quit cold turkey on that shit.

It fucks with your head. You need to talk to a doctor about gradually going down on your meds.

It's bad physically and emotionally for your health.

I am, more like was, considering Wellbutrin instead of Zoloft but again read the side effects (highlighted above and from websites blogs) and my concern is that this med is still messing with your body chemistry and metabolism. If you go off of it, then will you gain weight right back? And how long can you have the increased libido, high energy (concerning your adrenal glands), etc...

I now take Vitamin B complex 3X a day for increased energy, zinc, and other natural supplements. And trust me, I completely understand if you needing to go these meds to get through a difficult time but the weight gain with Zoloft was not healthy for heart and other internal organs and my self-esteem.

I also do yoga twice a week, workout, cardio during the week to relieve stress.

Sertraline has a pretty short half-life, i.e. the amount of time it sticks around your system. It's only a day for most people. So it's a good idea not to quit at once. Many psychiatrists will switch their patients to prozac, which has a much longer half-life (15 days), and is much easier to taper. The longer you've been on it, the more pronounced the withdrawal side effects will be.

In head to head trials there was no statistically significant difference between sertaline and other SSRIs and placebos. This isn't to say that these drugs don't work for some people.

With regard to SSRIs and other antidepressants, it's widely accepted that their benefit is over-estimated and side effects under-reported.

When I took Welbutrin to stop smoking I felt GREAT and was horny as fuck........there IS such a thing as an aphrodisiac!

not so sure about zoloft, i took a small dose a few days ago and felt incredibly suicidal for a few minutes when withdrawing from it. sexual dysfunction from a small dose, what gives?
