What's going on? Youtube is becoming a blank white page, Google instead goes blingbling.
 
hmmm new Google just feels kind of weird, maybe it'll take some getting used to :)
 
No design change on Google. Just the spare white page with the search field. You're imagining things!
 
WTF is up with you all who are seeing a different page on Google? It's the same it's been for 10+ years!

If you're using a localized Google site (.ca, .co.uk, etc.) it may not be part of the redesign (yet?). But results have varied with friends/co-workers and I depending on where and when we accessed, over the last day or two. I've read that Google's changes are gradually cascading out throughout their server farm ("The new look is progressing as a staggered rollout, and it's expected to be completed by Thursday.") starting this past Tuesday so it might just depend where you're hitting internally at the time you're searching. And now it's Thursday, so who knows, maybe it's taking a bit longer. :) I expect the new search interface will be standardized soon.

Well, it's the search results page that many are noting as different. :) Can you search for something and look at the results and search box on top of the results? You can check out my links in the post above for a summary about the results pages.
 
Here's what it looks like now, at least the search results page. Google was famous for its minimalistic design, now they added a search button with a gradient, a sidebar that is the same like the navigation menu on top, a new fontsize, they just generally bloated everything:

I hate the new design - how do we get rid of that crappy thing on the left that appears after a search?! It looks terrible and adds nothing!

When I first saw it, I thought I had accidentally clicked some weird option.

What is a good alternative to Google?

I know Bing, Yahoo, Altavista and Alltheweb, but don't like them.
 
Don't see what the big deal is. But hey .. bitching always helps. If you're done with it, just collapse the sidebar with adblock .. ##div#leftnav
 
Of course Corny is completely uncritical regarding any changes, even if they're completely redundant, because the sidebar is essentially the same as the one on top.

But hey, Google now added thin separator lines for more confusion.

I wouldn't even care if they would add dancing nude women, because that wouldn't limit me either. Why the fuck should I care about some sidebar? Especially if I can just remove it.

But please .. go and use bing .. I don't care either ..
