Now you don't have to press enter or click on the search button anymore, with every character you type, the search results adapt.

WOW! It really is instant.:=D:
I like the way it narrows everything down further with every keystroke.
This will save a hell of a lot of people a hell of a lot of time.

I'm sure the other search engines will follow suit in the coming months.

i believe you need to be signed in to use it ..

anyway, i consider it annoying and deactivated it right ahead. google suggest is useful, but instant search is slower than i type ..

I didn't even know it had cropped up... will look into it though I doubt I'll like it... I am not a big fan of autocomplete-like functionality.

Scroogle gives you similar results on a basic search, with less of the privacy issues and "we know what's best for you". It doesn't do all the Google tricks such as automatically going to maps and package tracking, or doing math for you. It just gives you the basic Google search without the cookies and logs of your behavior.

You can turn off Google "instant' in Search Settings. But if you your clear the cache and history etc. after a browser session (as you should) you need to set that choice again.

EJ, is the math thing new?

I like the new instant search.

Google Chrome does a similar thing...the box where you type the web site double as your search box.

I know...all you tech savy guys already knew that.

^^^ Maybe because of Canada's privacy laws. More likely because Google forgot to turn it on.

I hope it doesn't thwart Scroogle.

Now it also shows screenshots of the pages when you hover over the results.

^ finally I can get rid of the plugin that used to do that for me.
