No official Grand Opening date announced, but the bridge is 98 percent complete.

The local press is starting to worry.

Sounds like a pretty typical civil works project.
I suspect the US has added a prison camp as part of their border control facility so that might be taking extra time...that and the alligator moat.
Also, I can bet that the whole tariff bullshit is going to require an expansion of the transport check-through lanes and inspection yards.
With the murder of the free trade agreement by TrumpCo., I suspect that it is now an increasingly time consuming and unpleasant exercise for truckers going between Mexico and Canada.
The best part about this though is that it takes away the monopoly on cross border access by the private company that owns the existing bridge

And, are Americans still running up to Canada to get their prescriptions filled?
I haven't seen anything about these 'problems' in a while. Is that because Trump is handling them now?

Since the American First Nation Bands have opened all their smoke shacks in upstate New York, there's really no reason to smuggle. I assume it is the same in other border states. US citizens still get prescriptions filled through Canadian outlets, https://www.singlecare.com/blog/ordering-medications-from-canada/ although with the lifting of de minimus tariff exemptions, there may now be a premium...still Canadian drug prices would be lower. ^ I am not sure we share the optimism these days for the US, but as you note, this bridge was a huge investment for Canada and a mark of trust in the relationship between us and the US.
