got fed up with vista- have gone back to xp

vivicam 3760- i rang vivitar and even they said their was no driver available.
cannot find the card reader for the mo....still looking

Yeah, definitely Pinnacle's fault. For my Hauppauge Capture card, Vista actually went onto the internet and got the driver for me, and this was back when I was using Beta 2. It was completely seamless. I just plugged it in and it worked. Some companies don't want to bother supporting Vista.

Vivitar have apparently asked microsoft for the drivers to be made available but they are on the list of 'things to do'- so not happened.

not sure he said they had submitted a request for the drivers to be made available and as yet they were not so no idea who wrote them or whatever they still arent available.
This wasnt the only gripe with vista...though drivers is a major issue.
Got fed up with always being asked to ok stuff.

UAC is the first thing I disable on Vista. It's the most annoying thing ever. I don't care how secure it is. I can take care of myself.

Something that rather surprised me about Vista Is this lack of supported hardware. I mean it was in development for long enough. Surely the hardware manufacturers should have had enough time to develop the drivers. Why didn't they? Was it because they got the information too late, or it was wrong or changed too late? I had an email from my ISP, Tiscali, quite a major one in the uk, to say that the drivers for one of the most commonly bundled usb broadband modems was not compatible and not to upgrade until the issue was resolved. All in all it looks like a botched up launch in a rush before they were ready. Of course there will be teething problems with any O/S but these ones seem to really be pissing people off. One should not need to be an expert these days to get an O/S to work properly with your hardware. It seems that the safest way to ensure that it works is to buy a new computer that it is preinstalled on and is designed for it. This will not endear it to upgraders.

Please note I have not tried Vista and this is not a pop at the O/S simply observations based on what I have read here and elsewhere about reactions to it and problems that have been encountered. If you decide to attack me for posting this then I shall be happy to vacate this place. I don't mind being told I am wrong with reasons given so a discussion can be had but I am sick of O/S wars. At times I think threads on here should be moved to the religious forum and I mean threads from all three mainstream O/S religions.
