Love ad and news headlines that have unintended meanings. It looks like you must have a collection.

Thanks for the laugh.

They certainly knew how to market to their demographic.

That ad copy verbage is actually kind of hot! I feel so ashamed, haha. :-P

"Now you're shooting all over the place, but it's no use...'GAME OVER'." Sounds like the end of a date spent in Corny's bedroom!

Nowadays, kids spend all their time behind shut doors playing with their Wii

Love it. Ah, Sega. Poor poor Sega. Couldn't compete in the console war.

Which version of Sega? The Sega Master System? Sega Genesis? Sega CD? Sega 32x? Sega Game Gear, Sega Saturn? Sega Dreamcast? The Genesis was a pretty good system, it lasted about the same time as the SNES, but I think the additions (Sega CD and 32x) killed its reputation.

I think the reason why Sega Saturn didn't do so well because it was like a carbon copy of the Sony PlayStation (with the except of the Saturn Exclusives) and then when Nintendo 64 came out it went head to head with the PlayStation and it left Sega Saturn in the dust.

Sega Dreamcast didn't go as planned because it was the first console out there during the next gen of consoles. Also I don't think everyone enjoyed the whole arcade style games that the Dreamcast released. Though I did love Power Stone and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. When the PlayStation 2 came out with its console and introducing DVD compatibility it made all the gamers who wanted to flock to DVD.

I think if Sega waited a bit longer they would of been able to add DVD and the games would of been larger in capacity so the graphics would improve on a vast level. But then again Nintendo Gamecube and Microsoft XBOX came out which would of been a heavy load to compete with. :( I miss those days...

Anyways, funny ad. I never really liked the 3 button Genesis controller. I replaced it with the 6 button one.

Sega Master System II was what I had... and then no console until the PS2. Hehehe. Good memories of SMS II, I must say.

Fake ad.

- Sega never had an official joyboard with the joystick in the center and that design
- there's a price but no actual picture of the joyboard
- the play on "ages" (Sega backwards) was never used back then

Official Mega Drive joyboard from Sega:

^Bullet points Makes sense but the ad seems legitimate; text in the ad on OP refers to the console as the MegaDrive. Besides, I really doubt SEGA would have been able to run that ad here in the States. BTW, you do realize MegaDrive is just the Euro and Jap market name; Genesis name was used here in the US only but they are both the same console.

I feel so dirty after reading that!!
