Welcome and Greetings TampaFL23...Just east of you..Lakeland here...And an answer to buzzj... Ybor is still fun but you must be on your guard at all times...recent armed robberies,beatings (not just on gay men) and one murder...I avoid that area now...St Pete the place to party!

Yeah, Ybor is a mixed bag now a days. Though they now have a total of 3 gay clubs (the most ever) the crime at certain times in certain areas is outragous. Lots of theives and muggers...typical big city trouble. Two clubs are the main problem: Club Fuel and Empire. Both are hip-hop clubs and aren't exactly "gay friendly." The gay hip-hop club "Flirt" never has any problems...which I guess means that us gays can control ourselves.:=D: But its still a lot of fun if you go relatively early and keep within eye-shot of the police.

The French Quarter in New Orleans can be the same way. I still remember the Columbia Restaurant and Bern's Steakhouse--- both good restaurants back in the dark ages when I used to spend a lot of time in Tampa on business!
 
The Columbia and Berns are still good restuarants. Though, I feel The Columbia is more a tourist trap now than an actual "Tampa Tradition." Frankly, I've been here all my life and I'm ready to experience some other places. I love NYC and Vegas, but I'm not sure I would wanna live in either place. Tampa's biggest problem now is too many people and not enough roads, schools, utilities (espeically water) and the cost of home insurance and taxes.
