I always got a kick out of the documentary. It was.. odd.

but this movie is really great. Seeing them just descend into.. that.

Re: Grey Gardens - HBO Sat. 4/18 - 8 P.M. The Beales/Kennedy's

I love the documentary and have it on DVD.

I don't have HBO but a buddy taped the movie for me. Cannot wait to see it.

Re: Grey Gardens - HBO Sat. 4/18 - 8 P.M. The Beales/Kennedy's

I'm also waiting to see it.

Re: Grey Gardens - HBO Sat. 4/18 - 8 P.M. The Beales/Kennedy's

The movie was superb! I loved it. Drew impressed me and did a wonderful job but Jessica Lange should prepare her Emmy speech because she was phenomenal. My only critique (and I say this with love) is that there was a lot of going back and forth between time periods too early on. I wish they would have told the story in chronological order so not to confuse people who never watched to original documentary. I also wish that they would have shown Edie having fun playing "Dress up" because that's exactly what she was doing to combat boredom. Over all I loved this movie and I'll be buying it as soon as It's available.

The movie is on again tonight at 6:00 pm (April 19). I have my recorder set.

Re: Grey Gardens - HBO Sat. 4/18 - 8 P.M. The Beales/Kennedy's

We watched this last night with a group of friends. I thought it was entertaining...the acting was good and the story was interesting.

But can someone tell me why this story has such a gay following? For several months now I've seen updates on the casting, filming and reviews on various gay blogs. There was arguing about the casting, the script...discussions about the reviews.

Is this camp? I don't get the gay connection. Is it because her friend was gay?
Maybe because they were fabulous and miserable at the same time: going down in style.

Wow, i dont know if i could sit through it again but it was an amazing piece of work.

I also never knew Drew Barrymore had that depth in her. She was outstanding.

I thought Sigorney Weaver had it in the bag for best actress but Drew is nipping at her heels lol.

Anna Pacquin was decent in The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler last night.

I found this and thought it was worth adding to the thread. Its Grey Gardens as it looks today. I loved seeing how the house looks now.

Yep. Amazing doco. I'm always wary of remakes, adaptations etc. Seems kind of unnecessary.

I agree with your comment 100%, plus this movie had a really big negative (in my opinion) with Drew Barrymore. The fact that the movie will go back into their past (which the documentary didn't do) is the main reason this is probably worth watching. I will watch the doc first, then the movie. Looking forward to it.

I saw the movie and enjoyed it very much. Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore both gave great performances. Hope this movie gets lots of nominations and awards.

I expected Lange to be brilliant (and she was), but was amazed by Barrymore, as I've never much been impressed by her. Maybe the family genes have finally kicked in.

Having seen the documentary several times, I was apprehensive, but everything about the movie was first-rate.

The Broadway musical was superb. Christine Ebersole was absolutely brilliant. She played Big Edie in Act I and Little Edie in Act II and was rewarded with the Tony Award. I wish someone would film that someday soon with her in it.

The movie was very, very, very good. JessicaLange was fantastic as always. However, Drew Barrymore was brilliant. She really nailed the part in my opinion. I can see Emmy nominations heading their way.
