Hair transplant, thought i'd share my experience

7 month update. hair is looking pretty good. I had some problems with ingrown hairs. Turns out my scalp is oilier than typically and the oil was clogging the new follicles, so they were not growing well. So as of last month I started washing my hair twice a day (morning and night) and it's helping. This photo was taken this evening.

Wow this is a subject close to my heart . Brain actually ! I lost most of my hair between the ages of 26 to 31 . (My hairline is somewhere between Jason Statham and Mr Whipple). I have to say i went kicking and screaming into baldness . I'm 44 now so i've had time to get used to it and i never really have. I always wished i could have that surgery ( i looked into Bosley) but it's just not something i can afford. I constanly see some guys with the craziest hair and i always say it wouldn't matter to me if i had it back i'd take it anyway i can get it . I wouldn't be interested in something like Hairclub or toupees either. Of course i havn't been tempted to go "All The Way" and shave my head either but it's more likely to me than the transplants . Good for you that you've made that descision.

You are looking good. It certainly seems to be worth the expense and effort for you. Congratulations!

Yay! Looking good! :gogirl:

How much longer do you/we have to wait to see the full results? What's the typical time frame?

thanks!

most of the hairs have usually started growing by months 7-9 they tell me. But it takes about 13-14 months before the majority of new hairs have taken on the color and thickness of a non-transplanted hair. i still have a lot of hairs that colorless and they are thin. so they don't evaluate the transplant until about 12 months to see determine if i might want another one. i'm pretty sure i will not. it was about $4,600 for 1,200 follicles to be moved (that includes a mix of 1, 2, or 3 hairs in the follicles). my tax refund paid for it this year but i wont have that again. lol

im looking into having this done right now.Im 25 and my hair thinned when i was 21-23 and stopped. I have something called self-limiting male pattern baldness, which means i lost all the hair i was going to lose in a short amount of time rather than over the course of my life. lol like if you win the lottery and take the lump sum option. I was set on Bosley but today i read some horrifying reviews!!!! So i saw this post, and i have made up my mind. Im even in Yuba city, 30 miles north of you OP!!! Would you please forward me the information on where you had this done? I am really impressed with your results!! I still have my full hairline, it just looks a little thin so im really super excited to get it all done and behind me! Im super super masc but i LOVE hair so it sucks LOL!!!!

I went to the Hairclub for men here in sacramento. they will try and convince you to do the hair piece instead and i even tried it for a couple months, but didn't like it. don't let them talk you into the hair piece. they charge about 3x the price for the hair piece as you can get online. anyway.... hairclub for men here in sacramento. i think "nathan" is the one who's the manager here.

Very interesting. Would like to see another recent pic. It's almost a year now. I have used Rogaine for at 12 years now. I stopped for a few years and really lost some hair. I started again 4 years ago. I tried Propecia about 5 years ago and it fucked me up. I couldn't orgasm and when I could it just bubbled out and didn't feel like anything. So I stopped using it. Not many people know but I keep my hair shaved pretty short and dye it black once a week. I then use black make up powder and put it over the top of my head to make it look thick. No one can tell when I do it. I just have to keep it really short. It really does fill it in. I am not bald bald though. I still have hairs and not a smooth dome. I think the procedure you had would be perfect for me. But I don't have the money to do this and I am ok with using the make up. It's just a quick thing I do every now and then. I don't do it for work just mostly on the weekends or when I am on a date. And no black doesn't come off. The stuff is pretty waterproof. I did shave my head bald a few times. That look just isn't for me.
