I don't know if anyone has posted about the cast of the movie adaptation of the musical of Hairspray but the line-up is as follows:

John Travolta: Edna Turnblad
Queen Latifah: Motormouth Maybelle
Christopher Walken: Wilbur Turnblad
Michelle Pfeiffer: Velma Von Tussle
James Marsden: Corny Collins
Allison Janney: Prudy Pingelton
Amanda Bynes: Penny Pingleton
Zac Efron: Link Larkin
Brittany Snow: Amber Von Tussle
Nikki Blonsky: Tracy Turnblad

The only person I'm worried about is John Travolta as Edna. I just can't imagine him in drag.

What the hell? There is already a perfectly good movie version of Hairspray with Ricki Lake as Tracy and the late, great Devine as Edna. I had not heard that they were going to remake it again. Can't Hollywood do anything original lately?

It's time that Hollywood got more original -rather than all these remakes and sequels. I guess that's why I go to foreign films and the indie ones.

I quit caring when they cast Travolta. I'm sure Divine is spinning in his grave. And John Waters has been curiously quiet about the whole thing....

This is an adaptation of the stage musical as opposed to a remake of John Waters movie. The show has been a big hit on Broadway.

I'm very torn because I don't care for John Travolta but it's still John Waters so I feel I must support him. The musical is a riot.

I'm still waiting for the musical to open in London which it will hopefully do before the film opens.

Great Cast. I watched the original movie last night. So, again I am excited for the new version. I have yet to see the stage musical though...

I'll say it again though-- James Marsden is my husband!!!! So, my arm doesnt have to be twisted too hard to go see the new movie...

Also, here is a picture of John Travolta as Edna!!!!
