Now I was always and still am disgusted by hairy backs, and all my life I gave praise to the sky-gods for not giving me back hair, but the day has come.

I didn't even notice at first, but my back is covered in dark hair. I don't even know when this started?!

What do I do now? I always had self-esteem issues, and it always had something to do with my body, not feeling myself attractive enough and things like that. Now, I can't shave my back, I can't do anything with it really? What am I going to do now?

It is really ugly and disgusting, please help...

A salon with an aesthetician can wax it for you during any period where you think you'll be in public with your shirt off... or if it just bugs you. The first waxing is supposedly an eye-opening experience, but apparently people get used to it.

It can be lasered (which is semi-permanent) or permanently removed with electrolysis but these treatments can cost quite a bit... although when you add up the cost of waxing over a few years, it is not unreasonable.

Do you have a hairy butt as well? I'm asking because butts usually become hairy at an earlier age as opposed to the back growing hairy as we age. I'm a fan of smooth butts and hairy crack...weird as that sounds

Well, I always has hair on my butt and some hair in my crack, and even some very little hair on my lower back, but theese never bothered me, because they are very light coloured hairs, they are very soft and they are rarely seen. Now my back hair is dark, and not at all soft, and it is ugly. I just hate it. I think it might be best if I make it into my routine to get it waxed.

What do you recommend? How often should I get it waxed? Monthly? Every three weeks?

Try Nair for Men. It can cause some discomfort so try some on a small patch of hair on your lower back. If it doesn't cause a rash or reaction then follow the directions on the container. I use it if I am going to be at a public pool or lake to swim. It works well for me and I have thick, coarse body hair. Just be sure to keep it away from your nipples and your balls, it burns like hell on those areas.

Have you used steroids? Bodybuilders who use steroids ofter develop back hair for the first time. I ab not sure whether it is permanent.

If you're limited to waxing option only, I recommend you keep a routine of regular waxing every 6 weeks no matter how much hair grows back with in between period. After 12 months of waxing regularly, your hair growth cycle gets in synch. Your waxed back will last longer, and your treatments will be less painful. After 12 months most of the hair will turn into early anagen growth phase which are less painful to rip off than mature-telogen hair that develop hard caritanized roots. A guy I know recently completed 12 months of electrolysis on his back; total cost was about $9,000. A lot of dedication is needed for that but that gets rid of hair life. Laser is an iffy option depending on your age, hair structure and skin type. A lot of male back hair don't respond to laser well.

I like hairy backs.

Leave the hair. It's not ugly, it's beautiful.

Aw, that's sweet, but I have to live with myself dear, so it must go.

I was looking into it, but I can't afford anythin permanen for now. Maybe a few years later. Waxing seems like a good option, so I will try that, but I think it is best for everyone, including me, if I get in shape too. Easier to wax that way, and far far less embarassing.

I second Nair for Men. It is easily the most cost efficient option. I nair my chest and back once a month and can get maybe two or three uses out of a bottle.

I really recommend you start with nair, then move to a more long term solution after you review all the options and your finances

I hated my hairy back too and when i see one, I nearly vom, I'm getting mine lasered now and results seem to be looking good, will feel so more comfortable with myself once its done.
