Hey Guys,

Anyone else get accepted into the Halo 3 Beta? I know it's a little early, since it starts in spring, but they sent out the first phase acceptance e-mails this week.

Man... I think that would be fun to be asked to test. Obviously, I have not been. ;)

You still can. When Crackdown comes out, every one of the initial shipment will have a key enabling you to Beta test Halo 3. I got in becuase I was one of the first to apply for it when they announced it, and I've got some Beta testing experience (PSO on dreamcast, Everquest on PS2, Xbox Live on the original Xbox, Socom on PSP)

Not true - the UK release of Crackdown next month will carry the beta test key on the disc. May only be the initial shipments but the box will carry a sticker to that effect.

Crackdown looks shit but I'm getting it for the beta anyways...

So you're paying 60 bucks for a beta key only to pay 60 bucks again for the full game? Crackdown ain't worth 60 bucks, so you sure as hell aren't paying for that POS.

I'll take Crackdown back after I've used the beta key...

And besides, who says I'm paying 60 bucks for Crackdown? ;)

Okay, so I guess you plan on buying it at Wal Mart then because otherwise you wouldn't be able to 'take it back'. Of course you're paying 60 bucks for a Halo 3 beta key, I was just really hoping you'd tell me otherwise, lol.

It'd be funny if M$ tried to get all Sony and force you to actually play Crackdown or register it before you can have access to the beta key.

I enjoy crackdown. Definitely worth the money.

I definitely think halo 3 is going to suck. The only reason I'm going to buy it is because fun times will be had with all my friend (who will inevitably buy it).

I think halo is overrated. But, I registered for the beta anyway. I guess I'll find out if it sucks or not. If it doesn't than I guess I'll be eating my words.

I agree with you about Halo. I like both 1 and 2 but they're both very overrated and I just love how people are willing to buy a suck-ass game for a beta key to a game that they'll buy in full when it comes out.

Next they'll package a beta expansion key with copies of the next piece of M$ trash, whatever that will be.

Sure they are adding the key to boost sales but Crackdown is pretty fun online. Sure it's a GTA clone but it's done decently.

EDIT:Also, M$ is overused and pretty stupid. What about apple? I like how people blindly attack Microsoft.

Crackdown is, surprisingly, a very entertaining game. It isn't an A-level title, it looks cheap and is kind of aimless, but it's a very entertaining game.

Halo 1 was fantastic, Halo 2 a little less so. Halo 3 could go either way, I don't care though, it's too far off. I'll try and be one of the first 13,333 during the Rule of 3.

What ABOUT Apple, considering we're talking about an XBOX 360 game, owned by M$. I'm attacking this particular marketing approach, not them as a company-whole.

But please, don't get me started on Apple. I'd know just where to start and wouldn't know where to stop.

I'm just saying people say M$ as if apple or any other company doesn't do things only to gain money.

I thought Halo 1 was a pretty damn good game, and it was the only reason I got an Xbox in the first place. Up untill then, most FPS's stories seemed crappy to me (I am a total sci-fi retard though, so maybe thats why). Halo 2 was a decent game offline, but the ending was a total letdown. Online is what hooked me into Halo 2. I had so much damn fun playing online for months, until the hacker tard kids ruined it.

The beta is online only, so we really won't get any story out of it, but I'm sure it'll be fun, though I am worried about how many nitwits will be on due to the beta key being so readily available with Crackdown.

As far as people hounding MS for being money hungry, Sony isn't any better. Asking for $600 for a console is pretty steep, especially when it doesn't even upconvert properly. Sure, it is cheap for a blu-ray player, but I'm not sold on blu-ray yet, especially since most of Sony's other formats have bombed (mini disc, betamax) even when they were technically superior. And before anyone cries fan-boy, I loved my PS2, but the PS3 has soured me on Sony, especially after they have done such a poor job supporting with the PSP (an amazing little machine).

And I agree that Apple is definately on the money hungry side. Thier machines cost more than thier PC counterparts. And don't even get me started on the I-phone.
