Does anyone have this---Psoriasis. And how do you deal with the looks/stares from people.

How do you treat your flare up's.

I have had it for a while and it has it's flare ups. I use med's/creams ,but pretty much just stays never really goes away.

My only real problem is how people react when they see it on me when at beach, pool, hot tub's. They give me wierd looks like I have this deadly thing.

My honey knows and understands about it and never says anything. After 25 yrs together we know each other inside out..(*8*)

But sometimes would be nice to post more pic's he takes of me but I could just imagin the flack one would get.#-o

So would you post pic's of you or not.

Let's see some.;)
My mother has psoriasis, but very mild.

I will recommend what has worked for me and it helps keep it under control. I go to a tanning salon, Hollywood tans $19/month unlimited. I only go to help keep the psoriasis under control - not to get a tan. When the weather is warm enough - I go to the beach and stay in the salt water as much as I can - ocean water helps clear it up also (an epsom salt bath will not work). Then I take a daily suppliment of fish oil and turmeric tablets. Both of these also help clear it up. Hope this helps.

Racer - I would see a dermatologist, if you haven't recently. Although psoriasis is a chronic condition for which there is no cure, lots of treatments are available.

It sounds like you are currently using topical steroids and moisturizers. Depending on the severity and extent of your disease, your dermatologist may have other options for you, such as an oral pill or a new biologic drug (like Enbrel).

Tanning is not ideal because the light in tanning parlors isn't quite the best for what you have and has been linked to increased risk of skin cancer, including melanoma. However, light therapy in a doctor's office (also callled phototherapy) gives you a precise dose of the right kind of light to make the psoriasis lesions melt away.

Fish oil is a good addition too - there are studies showing it is a helpful adjunct to other treatments.

If you get your psoriasis under good control, you won't have to worry about what other people think, because there won't be much for them to see.

/i have it only on the elbows. it is mild and it showed up a few years ago. the demathologist recommended dovovet and it does take care of it. whenever I have a flare up ( usually either in the middle of the winter or summer), dovovet takes care of it. again, mine is a mild condition.

I have also found that I need to moisturize a TON! My new favorite is Dove Cream Oil Intensive Body Lotion. It really moisturizes my skin and helps to reduce the breakout area. Also - try here:

This is a very good resource - it helps with some remedies that do not require medical treatments/pills/ointments.

I began with contact dermatitis at 17, nickel allergy, and also have unexplained outbreaks. Like Biguy732, I find that ocean water, for reasons I don't understand, has ALWAYS cleared my skin..I haven't found anything to use in a bath that works in the same way. I also have to moisturize my very dry skin and have used Carmol 10 by DOAK Dermatologics for 20 years. It's non greasy and healing. You may have to ask the pharmacy to order it for you, it's hard to find in stock.

Good luck...many good suggestions here.

Let us all know of your results. The Humaworm and the cream also got rid of my psoriasis which I battled since high school and I am now 53 years old. It took me 4 Humaworm cleanses to finally get rid of my candidida which contributed to my Fibromyalgia. My pain would go away with each Humaworm cleanse but then to return right before My next Humaworm cleanse was due. I just started my 5th Humaworm cleanse and I had NO Fibromyalgia pain right before I started this time. Being pain free and Drug free feels so good! Donna

Before you go off and spend lots of money and put who-knows-what on your skin, why not start with medicines that have been studied extensively, have been shown to be BOTH safe and effective, and whose production is HIGHLY regulated?

The time to try magical potions and snake oil (in my opinion) is when conventional medicine has nothing further to offer you...which is almost never the case.

This does NOT SOUND SAFE at all. I would NEVER take something like this - you never know what the side effects could be!

I checked this out w/my doctor(dermatologist) and he said to stay away from this. This all bs just like enlargement pills.

She reviewed this info and found some nasty things it that are not healthy and give off some weird side effects..

People have been taking Leafy herbs ground into powder form since the biblical days...Don't be afraid of medicinal herbs that grow from the earth. Be afraid of Man-made Medicines that are created in Labs...They don't HEAL/CURE your problems, they mask them...You should know that.....

Do your research on NATURAL herbal healing before you talk down about something you obviously know nothing about...

Psoriasis is not some worm caused illness. It is a genetically inherited neuro-dermatoligic condition that can be triggered by other viruses or stress, including dry winter conditions and lack of sunshine (Vitamin D).

Oddly enough, one of the things you might consider is drinking a bottle of San Pellegrino mineral water to rebalance the trace minerals in your body. A number of people have found that it is a very natural and healthy approach that has helped them. During outbreaks, you should avoid alcohol, fatty foods, red meats etc.

Many creams and treatments will work for a period of time and then become less effective. Just keep rotating and trying different compounds that have been tested and proven effective.

As has been suggested, there are also other oral alternatives and treatments to consider as well.

Only use UV therapy under the guidance of your dermatologist.

Just my 2 cents:

A friend of mine had psoriasis, and I made a balm for her using Badger Balm - the olive oil, beeswax and castor oil mix one - and mixed in palmarosa, patchouli, cedarwood, rosemary, tea tree and lavender essential oils. She tried it and she said it really helped with her flare ups (mainly the face, and on her elbows). Just wish I wrote down what the exact proportions were...
