Actor Hayden Christensen is set to return to last year's blockbuster "Jumper" for a further two movies.

The star is in talks to front two sequels to the sci-fi film and, although the production schedule has yet to be finalised, he is confident he will be reprising his role.

He says, "We're talking about it. I know that they're having those conversations, I hear about them.

"It was set up to become that - a trilogy - if it did well. And I think they're happy with how it did so they want to make another one. But I don't think they're rushing to get into production."

Director Doug Liman is also in talks to helm the "Jumper" sequels.

Two questions:

(1) Was Jumper really a blockbuster? I spent much of the winter in Paris and Geneva and we never heard about it. We always get the blockbusters. Sometimes (such as Sex and the City) we get them before America...

(2) a)What was the name of that movie Hayden played in where he portrayed a "journalist" from the New Republic who got busted for basically pulling a Jayson Blair? b) As that is the closest I have come to seeing him actually act (this after all of the Star Wars madness was already behind us, thank God!), has he learned to act since then?

Otherwise I am really not interested.

"Jumper" made 80 millions at the USA box office, and around the same amount in the rest of the world, so technically you can consider it a hit. But I think the producers are counting on the huge base of followers that has been growing since the release of the movie on DVD. It worked for the "Austin Powers" trilogy and "The Bourne" episodes. Both films didn't make huge money on their openings, but their sequels were huge blockbusters.

That movie about the journalist is called "Shattered glass".

After you said that, I decided to check things out for myself. I was wrong...According to one of the apparent experts on the matter:

It currently is the fifth highest grossing film worldwide for 2008.

Jumper was ok but some of the dialogue and acting and sequences were just lame.

I just watched it Saturday at work and I thought it was a pretty good flick. Not killing the Jackson character, which I would have done along with the mother, certainly sets it up for sequels so it makes sense.

I forgot Jumper existed until there was a commercial for the DVD the other day. It was so damn boring. Definately not worth a sequel.

Chalchalero: no, he still can't act.
