first time ever posting here.

so what is the healthy weight for a 19 y/o 6'0" man? I currently weigh 220lbs and I am slighty overweight.

What weight should I be aiming at, and can you describe like a good diet plan that can work on a budget. (i.e. types of healthier sandwiches, easy to cook stuff.)

I know it is a lot to ask, but I must know. Cause I can never find exactly what I am looking for on the internet.
 
Your "ideal" weight is around 187 lbs, according to the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics. That doesn't necessarily mean you are 33 pounds overweight. Depends on your frame and build. That's just an "average".

Eat less and exercise more. That's the rule of thumb. Cut back on the carbs (bread, sweets, etc...) and eat more lean meats and veggies.
 
I long ago cut down on sweets, and I have been getting more into exercise, but it is kinda hindered by all this rain and flooding.
 
If your concerned about your weight, etc. See your doctor and he can advise you! Proper diet, and exercise will go a long way though. Your doctor would also suggest a diet and exercise plan...better him than us I think....we can't 'examine' you....lol
 
A lot of it does depend on your buils and bone structure. Don't depend on charts you find on the internet. They are notoriuosly wrong! We are all built differently and you have to take that into account. I am 5'9" tall and while I would love to lose a few lbs. there is no way that I could be the weight that they say. I am built broader and have bigger bones than a lot of guys my height. I also have a lot of muscle in there. So, for me to get to the weights those charts say, I would have to lose a lot of muscle mass, which is not going to happen! If you are healthy and eating right as well as exercising, then you will get to that optimum weight. Good luck!
 
I have always stayed away from White bread all my life, and I have begun to cut out all sweets except for limeade, but I don't drink it that frequently. I cut out fast food a long time ago. The only problem is exercise which I am definately working on.

I was thinking of getting back into skateboarding. It is a really good work out on top of being fun. I hope to loose that 20lb before tax free weekend, and maybe the rest before september. we'll see.
 
It really is dependant on your frame and build. I myself am in the process of losing weight, and the ideal weight for my height is 170-180lbs [I am 1 inch shorter than you, and weigh 10 pounds more than you do]. For me, that is probably a realistic weight to reach because underneath all of this 'extra baggage' I have a really slender frame [for an example, my mother is a very short and very petite woman, and even though I am 8.5 inches taller than her, I can get her watch on quite easily].

So, because muscle weighs more than fat, depending on your specific build, I should think that 187-200 pounds would be a good weight [the upper end being very muscular and the lower end being less muscular].

But, I wouldnt put too much into weight/height charts. I would put more trust into a Body Fat percent scale. Seeing as how the normal fat % for a guy SHOULD be between 10-15% body fat, you can determine how many pounds of fat you need to lose.
 
lots of cardio is an easy way to lose weight.

Actually, men have a harder time losing weight from doing a purely cardio routine than doing both a cardio and weight lifting routine. Rather than running on that god awful treadmill for 30 minutes, do 15 minutes on the tread mill and 15 minutes working muscle groups you want to get bigger or more defined. If you are uncomfortable with the way you look and want to have one of those porn star bodies ;) DITCH THE SCALE! Who cares how much you weigh if you look how you want!

Talk to your doctor about a workout schedule, and ask about dieting techniques. Dieting is not about watching a specific intake no matter what people say. Just because almonds have tons of fat in them does not make them unhealthy! Dieting is about a balance of nutrition and knowing which foods contain BAD nutrients (or lack of any nutrients). Obviously the fat in a Big Mac and the fat in an almond are two totally different things. Also, the ever popular "all salad" diet is a big, big no-no.

It may sound a little vain, and I'm not saying it's all correct, but Men's Health's website offers some good articles on dieting techniques and work out schedules. Also, they show diagrams of the RIGHT way to do exercises, which is important when doing it the wrong way could break your back.

Im in the same boat as well, Im big boned which makes you look big, Except for me i haven't got too much muscle all over, just my legs so I dont want to excercise too much cause i want to be smaller not have a muscle filled body but I obviously need to do exercise to lost weight and bulk. I need help cause im not sure what to do.
