dear lord im suuuuuuuffering.

ive been to the doctor, and i decided to not treat the symptoms - i try to do without medication whenever possible - but now im starting to wonder if that was a mistake. the symptoms werent that severe back then, and that was a week ago.

now i have disgusting and painful blisters around and on my anus, and on my fingertips. so sitting hurts, and doing things with my hands hurts. taking a dump is hell. in the evening i get fevers, and i wake up about five times a night, soaked in sweat. plus, i have diarrhea sometimes, just to make it more interesting.

gaaaaaah. thats all.

wow that really sucks---get some meds---fuck not taking anything, there has to be something they can do for you.

is it even possible to know with herpes? it can be dormant and undetectable for years.
the symptoms are finally going back, slowly. lawd, those last few days were not fun.

I'm not a huge fan of meds either, but when I have something serious, I generally will take something, especially when it's in vulnerable areas.

I'm glad you're starting to feel better!

Dunno why you're not taking aciclovir or valtrex. Both have minimal side effects and do a pretty good job at suppressing the herpes. Only issue I had w/aciclovir is I got really drunk fast

It happens to the best of us. Don't worry..... You'll be fine.

The first initial outbreak is always the worst..... Nearly all of the rest are not as bad (the fevers, night sweats, and flu like symptoms are almost ALWAYS only in the initial outbreak)

Herpes can be annoying at times but it's not an illness like HIV or Hepatitis (with all due respect to people suffering from those chronic illnesses).

You're life span will not be affected nor will the complications be life changing....

Just be considerate of others and refrain from sexual activity during an outbreak in the future. Do your best to reduce your stress.... that is one of the best ways to avoid future outbreaks.

I never heard of herpes on fingertips and you describing blisters on fingers sounds like it? If forever reason you're reluctant on taking meds for herpes, at least take over the counter supplement L-Lysene which is said to relieve symptoms. But if you can afford meds, you should be taking them so that you don't go through torture and minimize risk of exposure to people around you.

the scars are still healing, but the pain is over now (for some days already, actually). guys, that was unpleasant.

i know about herpes, and what little i didnt know the doctor told me.
(who, btw, is a really cute gay dude id totally do if he werent my doctor)
i know that its nothing to worry about and many people have it, even if most are asymptomatic.

there is no cure for herpes, except some stuff that eases the symptoms.
maybe i would have taken them if i had known how painful it would get, but its over now anyway.
the next outbreak, if im gonna have one, is supposed to be much less severe.
i also didnt know about "fingertips-herpes", but its a thing.

Next time acyclovir. It costs next to nothing with minimal side effect. I get regular herpes outbreaks and when I tried to cure it "naturally" it sometimes took nearly a month. With the antivirals it is under a week.

Hey MAN....valacyclovir is once a day dosing, has a low side effect profile and is the only med to date (to my knowledge) that has a claim of reducing tranmission. What is wrong with meds? Put it in perspective. You will take a raw dick up your ass, but don't want an FDA approved antiviral to violate your temple? I am sure as fuck not flaming/preaching (I have had unprotected sex and given and taken raw loads, for sure), and am just a lucky, lucky motherfucker and know it. The course of antivirals for an outbreak of herpes is like 3-5 days. If you have frequent outbreaks, like 2-3 per month or more, then "supression" therapy with daily dosing every day for like six months may be indicated.
