I am about to have to share my pc with a roomie. I am not out and want to keep alot of my videos and pictures private.
I am the computer administrator and have set him up an account. The account is set to limited. My question is...is there anyway he can get into my files or pictures and see what I have? I am not ready to come out to him at all right now.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
As long as he doesn't know your password you should be okay, but others more computer savvy than me will probably better advise you.

I think you should have this thread moved to the computer section, and I think you might be screwed.

I had a friend of mine use my computer and he was downloading his mp3 player to my hard drive. He was using windows media player and clicked around and made a few "oops". One "oops" was clicking on the video tab, and all my gay porn popped up.

He was cool about it and never said anything. I just blushed.
 
I say if you're giving him access to your computer, you need to realize that he may one day get into restricted areas and see things you don't want him to view. It's probably better to come out and tell him about the gay porn on your computer or tell him to buy one of his own.
 
As a limited user he shouldn't have access to your private files... only things you have shared.

However....

If he is computer savvy then it would take less than 2 minutes to access to all your files. A simple Linux Live disk would completely bypass Windows (And its permissions) to gain access to all files on the computer.

If you want something more secure, you could take a look at something like TrueCrypt - http://www.truecrypt.org/
 
If he only has an ounce of nerd in him, then there is a chance he can still find all your hidden stashes. Maybe consider putting all your stash on an external drive.

People always noisy.

If you share a PC, people can always find out the naughty videos & pics in the harddrive.

Unless u have an external harddrive for yourself , put that harddrive away when u don't use it.
