Why bother even going to work? If you're sick, you're sick. Phone them up and let them know ... then get yourself off to the Doc's for a checkup and a medical certificate.

Sounds like a good idea with it being a new job. And you can buy something for it while your out.

Making an appearance will definately look better on your part. I do hope they let you go back home. And stop at the pharmacy and get something to help you get well. Let us know how you're doing.

I think you handled it very well. It appears the manager was a bit thick in not recognizing what you were asking.

Sounds like she was more concerned over being shorthanded than either your well being or concern for the customer. If she seems to have an attitude when you return, I would go to the supevisor over her.

... Then she says "So what, do you want to go home sick or something?" ...

... Then she replies with "So what are you trying to ask me here?" ...

... and she's like "Well I don't know, if you're sick you're sick, I don't know how you feel."

Yeah, her responses have bitch-tone written all over them ... try not to ruffle her feathers too much, buddy ... and get well soon!! :)

Agreed. She may have just told you right then and there what type of manager and or co-worker she is.

This was obviously a no brainer. And she proved it - she has no brains.

Warm water and salt often helps with irritations of the throat along with gargling antiseptic throat sprays. not professional recommendations, merely based on past experiences.

eM.:(

Cough on everything. Then, if they don't send you home, at least you took a bunch of people down with you. Bwahahahahahaha!

Ok young man! Get to bed! You've stayed up late enough.

You need your sleep so you can feel better tomorrow. ;)

hey sorry you are

with responses like her's i personally wouldn't have left. i'm assuming you are a part time non union employee? i would definitely not call in sick again for a long time.

as for not going to the doctor. it is likely you have a viral infection. A doctor can't do anything for a virus (i.e., cold, flu, etc). sore throats can be bacterial in nature but those are not near as common as a viral sore throat. so its unlikely you would get much use out of going to the doctor anyway. just get some good cough syrup or sore throat vitamin C things or something.

hope you feel better.

Jordy,

You did the right thing, especially since this is a new job and you did NOT know exactly what a Bitch you had for a Boss; but now you know what you are dealing with and how careful you have to be around her....

Damn, I canNOT believe how dense people are when it comes to trying to supervise people!!

It doesn't take a scientist to realize when a person is sick and has NO reason to be at work, working with food especially, etc.........

Damn\!

Get well soon and watch that throat that it doesn't turn into Strep....look for white stuff in and around your tonsils in your mouth....

Hang in there!(*8*) (*8*)

Maybe she would have been more sympathetic if you had called in ahead of time and given her a chance to organize a replacement so as not to be short staffed.

Yes you do. I'm glad she explained her behavior.
