Ok this is really embarasing. Last week, for the first time in my life I had an external hemorrhoid. The sensation ranged from, "ok what is this but it doesnt hurt" for a few days then suddenly turned into "OMG I want to die because I'm in agony" It hurt everytime I pooped, walked, or puckered my hole.. it was the worst feeling ever. Did some research online and narrowed down the reason I got the hemorrhoid was due to my recent low carb diet of eliminating all potatoes, rice, bread, pasta, etc.

anyway, its been over a week, I still have it, although 98% of the pain went away. Basically I can stilll feel its there and when I go poop I feel it there.

WILL IT GO AWAY? ITS ANNOYING ME ALREADY. Also, I've never been topped but in case it does happen do hemorrhoids make bottoming impossible and/or painful?

First, go buy some Preparation H, it helps. It could take several weeks to go away, if it isn't gone in about 4-6 weeks then see a doctor about having it removed. If it's too painful to wait 4-6 weeks, then of course go sooner, but if you can bare it, with the Prep H, then most likely the doctor will tell you to just wait that time frame. I've been there, done that so I know.

You can find over the counter help at your local pharmacy. Non-prescription products like "Preparation H" can reduce swelling and pain or ask the pharmacist what he suggests as a good remedy. You should not stay on these remedies indefinitely as some of them can cause side effects like rashes. They are temporary aids to make you more comfortable. You may wish to discuss this with your doctor and have him take a look. Hemmorroids, if bad enough, CAN be removed. These days it's an outpatient procedure. Worst case, they might ask you to stay in the hospital overnight. More important...understand why you got them in the first place, tell your doctor all that you are doing with your diet. Most hemmorroids are caused by forcing bowel movements. If that is happening all the time, you really need to modify your diet. Again, discuss with your doctor. These things are very common and all doctors can give you options for getting rid of them, depending on how bad they are.

If you go back and read the find print on the low-carb diets (like Atkins), it mentions that you should eat salads and low-carb green vegetables.

This is why. :)

To answer your question, if you follow the advice you've been given in the thread, the hemorrhoid should get better on its own. Occasionally, they need to be ligated - which can be done in your doctors office.

The only other suggestion to add is that sometimes soaking in a hot tub of water will also help speed things along.

^ All of the above and especially what is in bold letters. Been there, done that and it works. ..| I have also sat on a heating pad (ON THE LOWEST HEAT and WITH A TOWEL OR TWO OVER THE PAD TO NOT BURN) for about twenty minute intervals to bring down the swelling around the swollen pucker (again, very low heat and make sure to use towels to get gentle heat and not burn). The heat brings the blood to the area so the nutrients in the blood and immune system can heal your booty-hole faster. :gogirl:

The other thing I have done is just reduce the amount of food consumption and eat fiber like multi-grain breads (not a big fan of wheat but a little is okay), steamed veggies, oatmeal, drink lots of water ...and stay as far away from sugar as possible. [-X Sugar is an inflammatory food and you do not want that!

Metamucil, Sugar Free with give you the fiber you need without many carbs. Level teaspoon a day.
Preparation H has a product with hydrocortisone, with will reduce faster. In future when you start to feel something there, start lubricating it at once and it probably wont get worse.

I had hemorrhoids once. Very painful and bloody. After a couple of weeks, had them surgically removed. I bled a lot for a couple of days, but then they healed quickly.

The proctologist told me suppositories, creams, oatmeal soap baths, etc, don't help. What did help tremendously were Witch Hazel wipes. Takes the pain away immediately, although only temporarily. The other things that brought me some pain relief was sitting in a warm bath and going in the steam room in the gym.

Since I got the hemorrhoids, I've cut way down on my meat consumption, eat lots of veggies, and have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast a few times a week. Yoghurt is good for keeping the digestive system regular. I also use baby wipes after every time I poop. Keeping your hole clean also helps keep the hemorrhoids away.

unfortunately Im very familiar with hemorrhoids. I've had them ligated 3 times. I'm just prone to getting them. I eat lots of fiber and all that. The thing that helps me the most is to soak in a bath for 20-30 minutes 3 times a day. A "sitz" type bath is best. Some Epsom salt in the water helps. Some Ibuprofen helps too. The best advice I can give you is to NOT be embarrassed about getting them or going to the Dr. MANY people get them and Dr.'s see them all the time. Straight, gay, bi. Doesn't matter. It can happen to anyone whether you have butt sex or not. Increase your fiber intake. Don't sit on the toilet longer than you need to. Sitting on the toilet or straining too much can cause them to flare up.

Hope that helps. It just takes a little time but if it's not better or gets worse again go to the Dr.

Actually, most of the health cites I consulted did not list anal sex as a risk factor for getting hemorrhoids. Overuse of enemas is, however. So, the combination of anal sex and overuse of enemas could cause hemorrhoids.

My other advice, make sure to breath properly, i.e. don't hold your breath, when shitting, lifting weights or getting fucked up the ass.

My doctor told me that having an office job is a risk factor, so one should not sit still for the whole day. If you have a desk job, get up and change position periodically during the day (also good to prevent back and neck problems).

All true! :=D: and let me add that a low-fiber diet is also a contributing factor for hemorrhoids. Do this -

Eat your veggies
Drink plenty of water
Stay away from sugary drinks and foods
Get plenty of exercise to keep your insides healthy.

Do all that and "logs" should fly out like missiles!:rotflmao:

And if you feel an irritation starting, use a lubricant to prevent friction.

I didn't say that anal sex causes them so I'm not quite sure what your talking about. I was saying that anyone can get hemorrhoids. doesn't matter if you have anal or not. it can happen to anyone. I didn't mention anything about daily enemas or enemas at all.

I didn't say you did. You said you can get them whether or not one has butt sex. Most people, I think, would assume it's a risk factor. I was just amplifying what you said.

I eat low carb often due to a cycling paleo style food intake and never had a problem with roids once I learnt how to shit after trial and error.

Never strain, never push that turd out, wait for your body to tell you it is ready.

If you don't shit, you don't need to shit, unless you are majorly backed up, in which case get some senna into you.

fibre or low fibre I just let my body tell me when to poop and it does so without major drama. However, I have made mistakes in the past and this is my advise;

1. Get some cream, prep-H, anusol, anusol (with extra kick).
2. Keep it clean, flush with cool water, and also try using witch-hazel or cool water after using the toilet, it helps.
3. no straining, no anal sex, etc. Sleep with your bum in the air etc to prevent gravity forcing your internal bits down onto your rear end. (basically reduce all stress and blood pooling on your blown o-ring)
4. wait for it to heal, then make sure it is healed internally too, not just externally.
