Is it possible to catch herpes from using a toilet seat that an infected person used before you?

While we are at it .. I also heard that you can catch HPV and Herpes from used towels .. also seems kinda more of a theory thing to me, but I never found anything substantial on it

You can but it's usually scrum pox aka herpes gladiatorum.

It's probably not herpes. It's more likely to be acne or a heat rash. If so, they can be treated and cleared up with a topical antibiotics.


Herpes is a bit painful- much like cold sores. And they come and go- like cold sores. Either way, you should ask your doctor to look at them.

One does not contract herpes from body fluids, it comes from skin on skin contact. Using a condom does not prevent herpes if the herpes infected area is uncovered. You could have spooned with a guy, with no insertion, and contracted herpes.

The next time you have a sore, go to the doctor immediately a havce him perform a type-specific viral culture. There are two types of herpes, oral (HSV 1) and genital (hsv 2). Type 1 is the typical cold sore and usually occurs around the mouth. By middle-age, 90% of the population is infected.

They claim that a viral culture is nearly 100% accurate, if you test positive, you are positive. Just make sure that you ask for a type specific test. I once tested positive, but the doctor did not order a type specific test, so I asked to have the blood test for antibodies to determine which type I had. I came back negative for both types. The doc said my exposure was probably too recent for antibodies to form. I was retested three months later and was negative for both again. The doc said I could be sure I was negative because the blood tests were 98% accurate.
