Greetings, I'm Shane from Arlington, Texas. I'll try to keep my introduction to an introduction and keep the rest for the coming out section, lest you all fall asleep reading my introduction post. In brief, my story is very much like Crowboy, except I'm 38 and he's 35. . . well, and he's from a different continent, but you get the idea if you've read his posts. I've known I'm gay since seventh grade, but repressed and locked away openly admitting it to myself until letting someone know two months ago. With that admission I now find myself in the maelstrom of "what and where now." Luckily, someone turned me on to this forum, it certainly appears my story is not unique, I'm not alone and it seems like a good place in which to find myself. So, hello and looking forwarding to meeting/interacting with you.

You certainly are not alone. I finally came to terms with my sexuality at age 56 and have been blessed to have found someone who loves me, warts and all.

It certainly has been a whirlwind of emotions and feelings. But the folk here have been supportive and helpful.

I bet you are relieved that you are no longer fighting with yourself.

While it is certainly a relief, it is like a false peak while backpacking--you think you've reached the top only to discover the hardest and most challenging part of the climb is ahead (and I have no map)--which is why it's always good to backpack with others or to visit with those that have made or are making the climb.

You certainly are not alone. I finally came to terms with my sexuality at age 56 and have been blessed to have found someone who loves me, warts and all.

Thanks for the comments. It IS comforting to know that there are others who didn't find their way in their teens and twenties. On a lighter note, I see you've just made your 53rd post and your screen name is Captain53. . . do you modify your screenname with each post so next time I see you you'll be Captain54?

Just found this thread now. I've said it to you before but I'll say it again. Glad you found us. And it's not just you and I Shane. There are a number of us all going through similar at a similar time in our lives. I think we can all help each other. Now group hug.
