Home Page Changed Maliciously

Which browser are you using? And which anti-malware products? (what are these Symantec products you mention?).

You can protect your home page in Firefox and Opera browsers. Should be in IE7, too - but haven't checked (if not, Bill deserves another pie in the face).

Download and install all of these free anti-malware apps and run (and update) them at least once a week - they all protect your home page:

-Spybot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

-a-squared Free 2.1

- AVG Anti-Malware Free (previously called Ewido) http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-spyware-free

If Norton AV (if you use it) tells you that Spybot S&D is incompatible, just ignore it and click next.

[And if you really think a Jubber sent you this "present", you should report it to admin.]

Good luck!

Um, doesn't seem like that could be an issue of your homepage being messed with. But more of a spyware adware issue, which has already been addressed.

i got it too google must have been foot stepping together on the net

and did you report your concerns to the mods?

he did ;) unfortunately someone removed the URL before i could check it. but from the description i suspect that he fell for a "fake spyware cleaner"

Thanks for the downloads mine has been doing the same thing. I also keep getting all these popups for IE security. Its driving me crazy.

The avg anti spy seems to have done the trick. I already had avg virus and spybot but spybot was not catching them. i had 108 trogans and they were not the fun kind.

Well I was wrong the spyware spam is back. I am getting so frustrated.

jjustme - did you try a-squared? That's usually pretty good for trojans.

You sometimes need to run the apps twice to get rid of all the bits of nastiness.
And then again in safe mode.

If that doesn't work, then I'd say you had a rootkit which is downloading new bad stuff all the time. [I got one of those before the Sony fiasco, when few had heard of them, and ended up reinstalling XP - but there are apps to help now].

If you've got a rootkit, you should start a new thread so that more people see it, and I'll give you some links - but it ain't a walkover, so try all your anti-malware apps in safe mode first.
