My boyfriend wants to start working out, but seeing as money is pretty tight, a gym membership is out of the question. I talked him into not spending the money (I tend to have to double as his conscience/best interests in addition to bf) as long as I would design him a workout to do at home to stick to.

I go to the gym regularly with a friend but I'm not really a gym pro by any means... there's bound to be some gymwise folks around here with some advice on workout plans?

Sure we can put something together.
What kind of workout is he looking for? Full body?

Yeah. He wants to get back into shape and build a little muscle. I don't think he'll have any problems when it comes to toning since he's got like no body fat anywhere.

nope, not unless he's hiding them from me somewhere.
I'm kinda building a list of exercises that are effective but don't necessarily require weights:
pull ups, pushups--wide, normal, close, triangle, and wall (if he's daring), situps, crunches, lunges

I figure I'd need more than that for anything substantial.

I don't know what kind of body type he's got, but lets assume he's a 'normal' guy.
I don't know if the 8 lbs dumbbells are gonna do any good, so lets try something else first.

Bodyweight exercises i can think of:
Burpee -Great one

Various pushups (Full, maltese and hindu).

Full pushup: Normal pushups really..

Maltese: Arms streched backwards towards the hips and out from the body.

Hindu: Great core exercise that looks a bit weird:-)

For the abs youve got situps and crunches.

For the legs i'd probably go for squats with the dumbbells.

Just some suggestions..|

I know this is off-topic, but WTF is that on your avatar? I first thought it is a dick but now I think it is a stretched asshole?

Its his stomach with a picture shot from his chest.

On topic, I don't really know if I can endorse Real Jock on this site or not, but it has videos of different exercises that do not require weights. I have been able to start toning myself with these exercises and I've already noticed an improvement in just about 3 weeks.

It IS a streched asshole (people have called me that from time to time).

sex = workout

thumbs up!

Haha don't worry, there's PLENTY of that workout going on

Thanks, I'll take a look at that

what's a Burpee?

what's a Burpee?
Great exercise.
It's quite popular in prisons, where there isn't too much equipment or space.

-Start in a push up position.
-Do one push up.
-Quickly jump feet forward to a squatting position.
-Jump high into the air, bringing your knees up to your chest & raising your hands above your head.
-Land with feet together, on the balls of your feet..
-Drop back to a squat.
-Jump feet back to a push up position.
-Repeat

It's just useful to have everything collected in one volume. More convenient. Just trying to help!
