hostels - what do guys wear to bed?

hope some guys here with some traveling experience can help me out here... i'm planning to start travelin again next year for mucho time in australia/NZ and europe, and i'll be stayin in hostel dormrooms for i guess most of da time, and i am wondering what the sleepwear etiquette is for hostels :)

so far the few times i was at a hostel dormroom it was always mixed-sex and most of the ppl in the room were girls for some reason (they travel more?), and i always felt weird sleeping in underwear sorrounded by girlz (i wear briefs) and had to take all my clothes to the showerroom with me to change there... so i will do my bestest to stick to just male-only dorms this time around!

i am just wonderin what you guys have seen in hostel (male) dormitories so far in regardz to what guys wear to bed there... do guys ever sleep/walk around naked or with briefs, or is that bad hostel etiquette? :confused:

I have stayed in a hostel just once, for 14 days lol...

It was in Denver back in 2004, hostel of the rocky mountains or so...

I was in a room of 4 with a bathroom and a little kitchen... it was a fairly good deal, $16 per night and we even had a DVD...

The hostel was divided in 2, girls side and guys side. I was sleeping with 3 hot Australian travellers, surfers. OMG, I tell you the hottest I've ever seen.

Anyway, I haven't had the problem you've had in the past, I was usually wearing boxers and a t-shirt in bed, same as at home, the surfers were about the same too...

I wouldn't be bothered if there were girls tho, probably I was to wear boxers and a t-shirt to bed as well, why would a girl bother me...?

I can tell some really creepy stories from that hostel tho but it's a totaly different thread lol...
 
My response is based solely off the movie Hostel, but anyway, I think all you're supposed to wear is a sneaky evil woman on you?? :confused: ​
 
Boxers and t-shirt are usually OK. You might need a little more than these during winter as some hostels do not have heating.

ooh i don't see myself wearing boxers again anytime soon... i used to but it was just a phase [-X that's why i asked about briefs...
i can't sleep with a shirt on either but i'm sure being shirtless is not a problem in a hostel! :)
 
dat's hot... i wonder if guys sleep naked in hostels on a regular basis :/
i don't have a problem with bein naked.. but i can't sleep nude :/ need underwear...
 
G'day mate....well gotta tell ya...boxers and a tee are probably the most common. Having said that....you'll get away with anything here if your hot enough!!!! if your subtle about it you'll get away with breifs...just!
 
I guess it tottaly depends on the individual... I've always worn a t-shirt and a pair of boxer-briefs, regardles of who I was rooming with.

However, just this last time when I was staying at hostels in Cologne and in Amsterdam I saw the two ends of the spectrum that one tends to get in hostels... In Germany I was rooming with three guys from Mexico and I swear the lot of them slept in their full clothes, i.e. jeans (with a belt, no less!), t-shirts and one even kept on his sweater... they didn't even remove their socks! ... In the Netherlands, however, I was rooming with three Spaniards (hehehe, I guess it was latino-week or something :p lol ) and they slept in nothing but thier boxer-shorts and when I woke up in the morning one of them had quite a prominent tent set up ;) hehehe... that was of course not the end of it... When it was time for a change and a shower all three gentlemen got up, got naked and paraded them selves around the room while I ever so innocently pretended to be packing. ;) .... hehehe, that almost made-up for the fact that they kept me up all night with their horrible snoring! lol
 
When I was sleeping in a hostel (in a semi-private room), I slept in my clothes (obviously I had a shower and changed my clothes the next day)...

If the girls aren't embarassed why should you be? But most places just change in the bathroom like the girls do. Wear boxers or athletic shorts to avoid giving the wrong idea if that's a concern. Most places, relax; a teaspoon of modesty is enough.
 
boxers and t shrit is the norm, boxers are ok too, or jocks with a bigger t shirt. We Aussies don't particularly mind if you went naked but it as the accommodation that you are staying in caters for all nationalities, you need to think more how the people from those countries would feel to see you running around with your balls hanging around your knees.
