For quite some time now, I've found it so hard to get the attention of any guy. I've had friends who you could say aren't the nicest looking people (not meant to sound rude, I'm not the greatest looking guy either) and they all seem to have no problem hooking up.

The few times I do get noticed, it's always by guys that I don't really have any interest in. I usually end up settling and date those guys, but it's not because I really want to. There's a guy at work who is the only openly gay person in the place and I'm not really attracted to him at all, but I find myself wondering if I should go after him.

Is there any way I can get guys to like me? I know I can be a bit shy at times, but everyone who knows me says that I'm friendly.

You don't want to act like someone that isn't truly you, so just be yourself. Don't try to change the outside, but try to work on the inside. Get confident. Love yourself. Guys will follow.

i know what you are saying Mr... i get so shy sometimes that im sure some peeps think i have a chromosome missing LOL... but in all seriousness, be happy with who you are and be brave every once in a while.... give a guy you like a smile or a wink.... whats the worst that can happen he says no? meh ... Next!! ... hehe

Goodluck with it , im sure it wont belong before we see a thread.... " i have a new bf"

Maybe it's a Midwest US thing; maybe it's a Bear thing... but I've found many gay guys are totally shy. And I think they're not interested in me. It's like I always have to make the first move.

I'd suggest two things.

1. Drop the attitude. You may be a CoverModel, and those other guys may not be as hot as you are, but that doesn't mean they don't "deserve" hooking up. They deserve it because they were willing to put in the work. Which leads to...

2. Put in the work. Stop waiting for your killer looks to land you a hottie. If you want a hottie, go find one, go hit on him. And while hitting him, keep #1 in mind. I have a feeling it might come in handy.

Maybe you're after guys that are way over your league. Gay guys generally date other guys that are on their own level. Maybe lower your expectations a bit. And maybe you are just too straight-acting that other gay men wouldn't know that you're gay. Or maybe you are just too hot that other men are intimidated by you.

So yeah, I agree that you need to make the first move.

Don't "settle" for someone in the sense of leading them on or using them. If you don't find them hot but like their personality, tell them you're interested in friendship.

Be yourself. Try to engage with others and be more social. Once you meet others and interact, you'll be able to see what you're interested in and see who's interested in you.
