97% of school shootings are done by cisgender white males. How come we never see them identified as the school shooter? But when a transgender person did it as part of the 3%, it is all over the headlines?

Same thing happened when a Korean American did it back like 15 years ago. Headlines all over said Korean student mass shootings. They even asked the PM of SK what he thought. Like, why don't they ever say white Anglo Saxon student mass behind mass shooting?

One could also throw in 'Straight' before cisgender as well. And likely 'Incel'

People always try to make sense/better understand these situations/events. If there is anything unusual about the shooter or the shooter's circumstances the public/readers want to know about it.

The world doesn't get better by us keeping ourselves ignorant of it.

The latest high profile school mass shooting was done by a transgendered person. As a way to torture myself, I went to some forums and read people's opinions. Conservatives in general are trying to pin the Trans part to the reason why the person committed such an act. They completely ignored the fact that 97% of mass shootings have been done by straight white cisgender males. Probably incels.

Both are true.

There is no reason to not talk about the transgender aspect of the killings, so long as the forums have to address the 97%.

"Yes, it appears the killings were possibly motivated by the killer's unhappiness with his role and societal rejection. But, what does that leave us for the vast majority, over 97% of straight males who do these killings? How are we doing anything to prevent the anger and violence of ALL segments of society that end in these rage killigs?"

Sexuality is on the table when it affects mental stability, and we have no onus to play defense beyond the slander that minority sexualities are somehow inherently criminal or violent.

The press is always going to report incidents like this in the most lurid way possible. That's going to include anything which marks the alleged perpetrator out as different. If he or she is for example a priest or a medic or a disaffected rich kid (such as Luigi Mangione) or, as in this case, trans, they're going to go for it. There's little interest in reading that he or she is an ordinary, middle aged, middle class white man or woman who works 9 to 5 in an accounts office and is married with 2.4 children and a Labrador. That doesn't sell papers.

In the UK there's been a debate about how much is reported about people accused of crimes, mainly around the supposed risk of reinforcing racial stereotypes. The press don't generally say in as many words the race of an accused person, although often the accompanying mugshot makes it clear. There has been a long-running issue with gangs of men, mainly in northern England, grooming and raping girls. These gangs were predominantly men of Pakistani or Bangladeshi ancestry and the girls were working class and white. There have been accusations that police were reluctant to investigate or prosecute for fear of inflaming racial tensions. The government has seemed similarly reluctant, but last summer the Prime Minister was backed into a corner and forced to agree to a national inquiry.

A recent issue has been a number of mainly sexual offences, and at least one murder, committed by asylum seekers. These are people who have entered the country illegally, mainly by crossing the channel, and then claimed asylum on the presumed basis that they were unsafe in France. Many have been housed in hotels where their presence is generally unwelcomed by local residents. When an offence has been reported, locals have assumed it was one of the asylum seekers who did it and there have been riots. The police policy now seems to be to say as soon as possible that the culprit is a UK national, where that's the case, to defuse any possible trouble.
