How do you define a dream car?

The other day, my co-workers and I were talking about our dream cars. A guy said Ferrari. Most were really expensive dream cars. When they asked me, I said a Tesla.

They said no that's not a dream car. Why? Because a dream car is suppose to be unachievablehence the word dream. A Tesla is perfectly achievable so it doesn't fit the definition.

I don't agree. I think a dream car is more like something you work toward, something that's on your buket list to get.

How do you define a dream car? And what's your dream car?

My guess is that a dream car is your ideal car, regardless of speed, expense, or anything else. It sounds like your friends have redefined it as impossible, but I don't think that has ever been the definition in the general population.

I don't have a dream car, as I don't really long for cars. However, if I had the money, I'd like a new Volvo and be pampered when I retire rather than the economy route I have been taking.

I agree with your definition, though I think some of them are associating dream car with something rare, and Teslas are becoming anything but rare.

For instance, my dream car would be a Saab 900 SPG original. Not expensive, but a rare thing to find.

A dream car is something you dream about owning and sometimes you achieve it and sometimes you don't. I have sometimes acquired something close enough to my dream car to be satisfied for a while. My dream car has changed over the years. The car I liked most that I owned was a new Olds Cutlass convertible. Now I know that a convertible would not be ideal for me now.
