(I didn't know how to move or delete posts so i am sorry for the triple posts. Please don't hate on me...im fragile !oops! )

I'm a song writer and i'm trying to find a general theme that i can put into my music that will make me stand out from others. So i decided to start writing about atheism and gay themed romance. Basically normal love songs, just real.

But i was wondering if it would really make a difference to you if i had a gay theme or if any artist had a gay theme. Would you listen to me rather than others? All my friends say it really wouldn't matter to them but it would matter to me. Like Lady Gaga and David Bowie.

heres a demo of what im talking about: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b24Yx5zJQBo&feature=player_embedded[/ame]

I'm a little confused by this idea of gay themed. I always thought gay themed was a mix of or either just disco, power ballads and europop.

The demo sounded kind of indie(ish) to me.

I think whatever matches your soul will be reflected in the end product, gay theme or no gay theme, if it is great listening to then it will be a hit in some circles if not generally.

I mean gay themed lyrics. But thanks for calling my song indie :D i love indie.

they crap

ya know dudes got balls not cottonwool any country make da drip sell fa da ( gay ) thang

I honestly wish there was more "gay themed" music.

I'm getting ever so sick of hearing men sing about women.

I want to hear a man sing about another man.

does he sing to a man in his love/sex songs (if he has any) or just leave it ambiguous?

He sings about another man in his song "Fever".

The lyrics go:
"There he goes, my baby walks so slow,
sexual tic-tac-toe, yeah I know we both know it isn't time"

I was listening to it with my 13-year-old brother (who doesn't know I'm gay), and he said "doesn't he mean 'she'?"
So I had to explain to him that Adam Lambert is gay, and what gay people are.

Depends on the song. If I can appreciate the lyrical content or production quality, anything that appeals to my ear, I will say that I like a song. The particular theme is somewhat irrelevant to me. It's more about how said theme is articulated.

^ Definitely a "gay-themed" song, and the one the ignited my love for Scissor Sisters, but it's not necessarily an "in your face" gayness.

I mean, for most of watching it it's obvious, but I doubt it played gay in Peoria.

It was their attempt to bust into the mainstream...

(Which worked in all of Europe, but not in the states, for some reason...)

Do I have a problem with gay'themed music ? Of course not, but for the artists that want to make it big in America, they usually have to tone it down.

(Even Lady Gaga's message is lost of many people....)

The theme is definitely staying in my music. Thanks for the input. I like how divided everyone is about it but it showed me how differently everyone looked at there music.
