i'm the same as you this site has helped me make a few friends so making an account was a good first step

How do you make connections? You post something like you did and then someone like me will come along and say hello. That's a start. Post more. Make more connections. You'll be surprised.

bh43075 what mbamike says is pretty much it. You're already on your way. post on the topics you like. check out the amateur board and post on threads of guys you think look good, and when you're comfortable you can post your own thread.

Also don't be afraid to talk to any one here directly. Getting to know people takes a lot of guts. But if you don't try, you'll never know what you missed.

I felt that way before I first joined, which was a week ago. I would not consider myself to be experienced and leaning likely to the inexperienced side, but I took the plunge. I thought my old age (mid 20s) would be a factor, but I found a welcoming group of guys (of all ages) who PM me regularly and we get to talk about everything. I even hope to meet some, in person, and I have only been here for under a week.

So far, all I have been doing is engaging others in discussions and finding out about people. We are all on here for different reasons, but I think one common thread is to build a bit of a community. I'm happy that I joined.
