Im a skinny guy about 5-5,6 in height and wanna build my arms if i start doing pull ups how many weeks before you begin to actually see results

I don't have a pull-up bar, but I recently stayed at a friend's house and she has one. I was only there a week and noticed results in my shoulders by the time I left.

Push-ups are great for your arms and your pecs. And no equipment required.

there is no time limit. dedication=results. if you only plan on working out til you look a certain way or for x amount of weeks, then you might as well not work out at all. if you want results, you have to make exercising your life. not saying that you have to be like a gym head where you have to have a protein shake, eat 6 meals a day, take supplements or whatever today so you can look ripped over the summer. i'm just saying that if you're not going to look like you been in the gym for 6 years if you're only going to work out for 5 days.

and if you see any of these celebrities or people with beach bodies when they used to look like larry holmes flabby and sick or like stick stickly then chances are they're a.) taking some shortcuts-steroids or whatever. b.) have some damn good genetics which could allow them to look like that so fast. don't believe the hype.

You will see results immediately, but it may be awhile before you build up to 10 unassisted pull ups. Done properly, pull ups mainly build your back muscles, especially your lats. Close grip pull ups will hit the biceps more, wide grip the lats more. They will also work the shoulders, but those muscles are secondary.

That being said, i strongly recommend doing pull ups. Great exercise. I love a sexy back (especially on a hot bottom). (!)

Health is the most attractive physical quality, not beauty. There's nothing sexier than a healthy man.

Right now i can do around 9-10 pullups before I have to stop for rest so im getting decent at it now LOL being doing them for a good maybe 6-7 weeks now not every day though I plan to start properly doing them everyday now.

I can do 10 pull ups were my palms are faceing me
And maybe 5-6 of the other ones

Which ones are better though?

The best for your lats are wide grip, palms facing away from you, but also the most difficult. If I'm well rested and fresh, i.e. beginning of the work out, I can do 15, but have done as many as 20.

bodyweight is fine, however you will find bigger and better results usually with strength/resistance/weight training.

If you still like the idea of pullups (I do them as part of my usual exercise routine) then weight yourself once you can reach 10 of a certain set.

Weight can come from anything if you are doing it on the cheap, even dive belts found second hand at a garage sale for example. Keep increasing the weight whenever you reach 10 again.
